Description
Exactly what it says on the tin. There's a lot of steps to this one!I changed my mind about what color I wanted this girl shortly in, but kept the original red in her spots.

Great design for an non-humanoid sapient being.. The color and details make this very awesome and credible.

I've been thinking about this today, and I think this needs more of a response from me than a simple "see last paragraph" (though the paragraph I was referring to is relevant). See, I drew this a little over a year ago. It wasn't until after I posted it in a few of my other online galleries, and received a few comments on it, that I realized that it did indeed resemble the birrin in many respects. Some entirely subconscious shape memory was at work when I drew this, it seems. You're a creature designer that I greatly respect and admire, which is why I included that postscript in that other deviation that I linked to. I didn't think to include it here as well.
Anyway, I apologize. I didn't set out to rip off any of your designs, and I mean no disrespect to you.

I was shocked by the resemblance, nonetheless I have done similar things by accident before so I understand.

All good, I ripped off the Dune Sandworm and the Tremors anyway

It's like Barlowe crossed with a camel and the future is wild (minus the out-of-date cg), seriously, you're so good at this stuff it's scary.

I think this is the closest I'll ever get to catching a livestream from you Cory. Lol. The most amazing thing here is how careful and meticulous you are with your shading and coloring. Makes me feel like a total slob. Thanks for sharing my man.

Whoa, late reply!
Anyway, yeah, photoshop, with lots and lots of different lays in different blending modes. This [link] explains the process in more detail.

Coolness!
I really liked her with the red skin, but the end version is also very nice.

Yeah, it's totally subjective which color scheme works best. The red just wasn't working for me, personally.
Thanks!

Thanks for putting this up! It reminds me that I should be more thorough about making my fundamental sketches! I also like to see you play around with color

Oh yes. The more I learn about art, the more important the sketch becomes in my mind. The sketch is where all of the problems are created and solved.
Thanks!

Yeah, one thing I learned in school ... If you don't make your sketch right, the rest of the painting will follow suit! Gotta do more work on the sketches!
