Description Jeepers creepers, it's been months since I last dumped some work into this gallery. So, this'll be the first image of many.
A manticore design, and a robot with a (poorly drawn) dachshund.

I like the manticore's foreclaws. I wish we could see its skull!

Interesting manticore. First one I see with spines down the tail, instead of at the tip.

Indeed, its spines almost seem more like bristles. Which begs the question: are small, bristle like spines a derived feature for manticores, or a primitive one?

It is my opinion that manticores are a derived species of Egyptian sphinx that became more bestial and developed a sting-tail. Meanwhile, the Grecian line of sphinxes went on to develop wings, and eventually migrated into North America, producing the Piasa.

Legendary cladistics = fun.

*goes and looks*

I suppose, technically, you could do it with any number of myths and legends. Kelpies, Unicorns, Leprecauns, Elves... all myths subtly link via geography, history and 'biology'

Of course. Imagination's the limit.
