Thanks. You definitely should. I highly recommend it for idea and silhoutte generation. It took me a few goes and a few tutorials for it to actually click how to use it without generating totally random stuff, but now it's indispensable.
Having said that I actually did the cables and stuff myself

Yeah I've played around with it and liked the results but had a hard time integrating it. What tutorials did you read?

The intro one is good, but seeing the mech one make it click for me. I think it was the way he snipped off bits and used the awesome basic shape tool with purpose. He mentions his tool setting in the comment too.
