Running, that all they seemed to be doing, running. Even Lestrade would agree that being with Sherlock reacquired an awful lot of running. This time, they are in the middle of a case that dealt with many many missing persons.
Rewind to about a week ago, they were sitting in the living room about a day after getting the case, Sherlock sat contemplating, whilst John wrote a new entry to his blog.
John felt slightly worried by the way Sherlock reacted to this new case. Refusing any sustenance, tea, coffee or otherwise. No sleep whatsoever, the normal things, but then came the uncommon to Sherlock, refusing nicotine patches, moving all of the gruesome experiments to his own quarters, and insisting on always knowing the time. The last last one was the only thing John could make out of him always bringing a pocket watch along with him recently.
John decided one day to take him up on the curiosity surround this watch. "Hey Sherlock, who's watch is that?"
"What watch?"
"That one!" John  pointed to to the one hanging loosely out of Sherlock's suit jacket.
"I haven't noticed it, fascinating, now that you mention it I can't remember how I got this. Nor do I ever remember having this, I believe Mycroft has the same one, but somehow not the same.." Sherlock trailed off taking the pocket watch into his fingers inspecting it all around. it was a beautiful watch adorned with circles and compasses. it looked like it was resembling a map. Fascinating
John decided to leave Sherlock contemplating, worried about the extreme gaps in his memory. At about 2 in the morning John was awoken by a large crash.

Sherlock, despite the overwhelming part of his brain screamed at him to not open the pocket watch, that there was a reason he had kept it close, but he just couldn't remember why,  he finally opened it at about 2 am in the morning.
When he clicked the latch the top swung open, releasing  golden wisps coming out of the clock. Sherlock tried to move away, wishing he could go back. He knew it would be the end of Sherlock Holmes. But he was immobilized by the knowledge he was taking in...so much knowledge, pain, happiness, and suffering. He could feel his body changing morphing basic biology.
Falling over, he clutched his sides, he stumbled into the kitchen finally falling over screaming. He was not Sherlock anymore.
Sherlock was long gone.
He now, is a Time-lord.
