Description
I know, I know, if you've seen one picture you've seen them all...its just so hard putting life into something that's stored on millions' of people's cameras...The one, the only, Chichen Itza. Located on the Yucatan Peninsila (a word that I cannot spell...penensula? peninsula?) in the Riveria Maya, about three hours out from Cancun, the ruins are enormous. ENORMOUS. There are hundreds of pyramids scattered throughout the area, most still buried. We came across quiet a few scientists digging, chipping, carefully placing stones in smaller, off-to-the-side pyramids.
Its amazing. You walk in this forest on a rocky trail, with people peddling their wares at you left and right, and the tension starts to build as you hear more and more voices ahead of you. The trees don't ever fade away, the just stop - and there it is, hundreds of feet tall.
Everyone should see it once. Its amazing. Climbing it, however, I would only recommend to the strong of heart - and those who love heights. Its exhausting climbing that thing...and going back down you just look stupid, doing the 'kiddy-butt-thing', as our guide termed it. XD
<3 Chichen Itza. <3 Mexico.
I wanna go back...
