The new Zelda´s video was released and the whole internet shows their excitement for the game, it makes me ask to myself, what would Samus think about it?
If you don´t catch the joke, well I'm sorry, I´m not the best writer in the world, I don´t even consider myself as a writer.
The joke comes because of my feelings, about the lack interest from Nintendo to Metroid series which this year is going to “celebrate” 7 years with no game, (No, Federation force don´t count) and the contrast with the carnival called Zelda and her crying anime school girl who gives the name to the game.
We all know that Metroid don´t sell the games as Zelda do, but, we are talking about a game wich has a Gender inspired in it.
What would Samus think about it?

Aww poor Samus being salty. Can't say that I blame her. But hey we got two metroid 2 remakes & while we're still waiting, Prime 4 is coming. And both remakes were good fan & offical.
Though if it's also a jab about Zelda being emotional & being praised while Samus nearly killed her series with Other M, I do have a legit explination as to why. First off, Wild Zelda here is very different from other Zeldas in the series because they are different characters, that's why we got Link to the Past Zelda in Smash instead, And she's different from Tetra.
Samuis is the same character through & through, which why Other M's poor writing makes a emotional Samus so jarring and terrible. Prime3 is a great example of how she expresses her feelings at loosing someone with the other 3 hunters being adsorbed by Dark Samus. Actions speak louder than words after all.
Personally how I would fix it by establishing early on she's not feeling herself, and then give her survival guilt & make it a theme of her coping & still being haunted by old memories & make her question if she's really making a difference since it feels like she keeps losing people & the bad guys keep coming back. And then have someone remind her & say, "Hey you're Samus fricken Aran destroyer of worlds! You got this!" And then and then your back to playing the Badarse we all know & love.

The current Samus (After Super and Fusion) seems to have a warmer view about Metroids.

I am with you with Samus getting absolutely no love, it really is like Nintendo had forgotten she exists :[
But with that said... Zelda is not a crying damsel in distress in this game, I think even the strongest of character is allowed to cry when faced with what she just faced. The creatures that were supposed to protect them from Ganon without warning were corrupted by him and turned evil, killing her friends, her father and destroying the kingdom, furthermore Zelda feels directly responsible for this as she had tried and failed to learn how to use her sacred power to face Ganon, so yeah, she cries, with good reason.
They also for once did not have her kidnapped, interestingly enough they instead put her in control over Ganon. Zelda finally taps into her sacred power by selflessly putting herself between a mortally wounded Link and an enemy that certainly would have killed her instantly had her power not awoken, she then goes to face Ganon alone, head on, and uses this power to hold him and his evil influence over the world at bay while Link recovers becomes stronger.
They really stepped up everything about Zelda herself in this game (though yeah she is still not the kickass battle ready heroine Samus is but they did kick her up a notch this time)

First of all, thanks for the spoilers (Nah, just kidding)I didn´t play the game yet, but some people told me what you said, and yes I really believe Zelda is a strong character in the game, could be the Strongest.
When I made this comic strip was the time that the secondvideo was released and all of us get marvellous with the character´s voices and how everything looks beautiful and dramatic.
But Zelda at that point was shown as this crying girl who needs Link to save the day, for that reason this comes to my mind, plus as a Metroid fan was a little sad because one more time Samus was ignored.
Now we all know that Zelda is not a damsel in distress wich is awesome!
I preffer that a thousand times.
But no new Metroid game was released, so I´m still a little sad. hahaha

I know it's 2 years late reply but, there's a difference as to why. Wild Zelda is different from her other versions, just look at Ocarina Zelda & Tetra from Wind Waker. Samus being the same person, and being emotional comes out left field and the story was written so poorly that it doesn't work.

I love Princess Zelda, and I see a great deal of potential in her, but I'm tired of seeing her as a damsel in distress. The previous Zelda games have shown time and time again Zelda's role is to help the hero and get kidnapped, when Zelda can do a whole lot more than what they make her do.
I'm going to be the first one in this world to admit that I do NOT like Link, and even if Breath of the Wild makes Zelda look a lot better than she ever did, to me personally, the damage has already been done.
It's a tiring concept that The Legend of Zelda needs to drop. That's why I'm working on a Zelda fan comic in which Zelda is the main protagonist.

And the reason she was crying in the trailer? Haven't gotten very far in Breath of the Wild, but like I said, even if Zelda did get a better character role in the game, the damage has been done for me.

2 things that were kinda a let down for me (even though i have never played any Zelda games) 1- The characters are speaking English not some weird language (like old school type) 2- Zelda is now officially a damsel in distress.

Funny, but Zelda is nothing close to a damsel in distress. That moment of her crying on Link, hoe don't you know that that's not just a stressing moment in the game that brings them closer? She has immense power within the Hyrule and when using the Triforce, and let's not forget about Sheik. Zelda is pretty kickass compared to other princess :/

I´m absolutelly agree with you, the only think that we know is what the trailer says, and I want to believe that this Zelda is a powerful and strong character who catch us with her passion, bravery and wisdom (her part of the triforce)
and not what is shown until now.
Just remember that this is a new game, which means this is a new Zelda, with new personallity, Sheik is from Ocarina of time, my favourite Zelda untill now
I also liked the Skyward Sword`s Zelda, but she was a school girl not a princess.

Yes! Though just because she's portrayed one way in a game doesn't nullify what she's done as a hero before.
I play games for the story... I love good character development, so that means even if it's gender locked I still have fun. Yes, it's a male character but that shouldn't make you feel excluded! You should feel the games story and experience it as if it's you in game (since that's the point and how designers want their story to be portrayed).
I think people take fiction a bit too seriously. Something I've always lived by is, if you want something and it's not out there then do it yourself. You want a female leader? Design one yourself, and be proud of that. These fictional characters like Link or Zelda are just entities that we are supposed to portray are emotions on depending on how the story effects us, not because the main hero is a man. That's why most main characters have such a blank personality so that we can attach to them easier.
I do think it's a problem that their have been a lot of helpless women in games, but 100% has that changed. We see way more strong female characters nowadays which any female can project onto... just because Zelda might not use her powers this game doesn't mean every other girl character is whining and helpless (like this picture portrays). I don't see the need to have people attacking franchises for this reason, maybe focus on other matters that are less petty (and yes it is petty. Don't bring the arguement of "role models for younger girls" into this either. Younger girls pick who to look up to themselves growing up. A lot of parents are more liberal now so they'll let their kids play with what ever toy they think is cool; instead of purposely giving them gender assigned toys like most parents used to. Also what's wrong with a girl having a male role model? Isn't saying that she should have more options sexist towards men because you want to exclude him from her opinions. Believe me, there are plenty of strong female role models... fictional and non fictional.... If a female chooses to look up to a man... then that is her choice and nobody should dictate that expect for her!)

Again I agree with you, I don´t want to say that Zelda is doing it wrong, or a mindset is wrong, I don´t have a problem with her, I love Zelda games, their characters and I love Video games in general.
What the comic strip says is this: Is time for a new Metroid game; Samus the protagonist of this Saga is jealous deep, deep inside of her, because her last game was released 7 years ago, and she criticize the video because it is not about her, and who was the victim of her frustration? Zelda, who gives the name to this saga.
Is a joke about a jealous character who watch the success of another one.
And don´t apologize, maybe the strip needs a clear explanation, I like what you said.

haha i hope there is some secret metroid stuff going behind scenes for 3ds or switch but yes zelda games really arent for the story to me but exploration as the stories arent groundbreaking or thrilling.

Yeah, I wish there is a new secret Metroid game, and I wish that Nintendo make a good story, after all is Zelda! and we are in 2017, we have many exploration games with groundbreaking stories.
