=========================

The Colonial Steamship "Phantom" was commisioned by the NCC (New Central Commonwealth) to be the first ship ever trying to cross the Stormwall using one of the three vortex' (I will submit an interesting world map soon and then you know what I am talking about ). Crossing a vortex is similar to diving deeper into the sea (except that you go up not down ) - the pressure applied on the boat rises. But its superior compound-steel plating, the new installed bulkheads, the powerful GGI and the strongest air propellers were more than effectual, so the venture was a complete success (of course, we know nowadays that even though you need bulkheads, a certain plating and strong air propellers, you can cross the vortex with far less than the Phantom had). Right after crossing the vortex, they discovered the coastline of the Dranthean Continent flying in the distance and thus the existance of floating landmasses, which nobody ever thought would exist beyond the Legends.
To this day, the CSS "Phantom" dominates the virgin skies with its supreme force and ensures the claim to power of the Commonwealths' Colonies.
The Phantom recieved its memorable name by being what she is - a phantom. Despite of the ships' enourmous size, its Air Screws and - Turbines run at an incredibly silent rate, only to be heard by crewmembers of other ships when it is almost too late. Additional to that, the Phantom is equipped with a new and highly secret government project called the "Sky Sonar", enabling her to scent out enemy ships and other obstacles in even the thickest fog.

Y'know, I've seen lots of these steampunk airship designs, but this is one really stands out for me. Great composition and details.

indeed, very wraith like capabilities this ship has. very good word play, makes it sound more alive.

thx ^^ after all, without a personal history, a machine such as this is just a collection of metal, and has no soul. ^^^
