Show after Show....
The long eared Stallion and I made our way through worldwide shows.
Again with the mission, "Mules are honorable Dressage competitors !"
To this day, people think Khan woudn't be able to climb up far in the show world, he's a mule, he's "dumb", not worthy of being there.
Yet look at us now, our 3rd show this year, rocking it again in a double bridle.

This show was the official RDHS Cup at Cronenburg stables, it was a big honor to have been accepted to compete here.
We were going to be competing in the Subtop level, as Khan simply knew all of the required movements for the class.

I approached the sleeping mule on the pasture, stroking his long ears and waiting for him to open his eyes before clipping on my leadrope.
The huge Stallion gave a snort, a nicker and got up on all his legs so I could lead him out without any problems.
I felt kind of bad for having to wake him..Aren't we all like that ? Waking your pets is traumatizing and sad....He was just a big pet.

I tied him up at the fence and started grooming him, as he watched people passing by and walking down to the shore.
It's been a while since I've been this close to the ocean, I missed the sound of waves hitting rocks, and seagulls being around.

Time flew by as I groomed, I tried to relax myself as much as possible.
Khan was such a behaved stallion when being groomed, you'd almost forget he's there.

I took a deep breath before tacking him up.
It wasn't much longer until it was our turn, we had to hurry so I'd still have the time to walk him a few rounds.
I grabbed his bridle and pulled it over his long, wobbly ears, hanging to the sides as he was dozing off slowly...
"Hey you ! Wakey Wakey, I promise you get to nap later, okay ? This should be the last one hopefully...It'd mean a lot if you could give this your best - I have bananas."
it seems a spark of determination lit up in the Stallion as he heard the name of the yellow snack.

And so, as the the waves hit the rocks like a mighty drum, the two made their way into the warm-up ring one last time.

The sun was setting coloring everything in a dazzling, golden tone.

"Next up, we have Erin van Davenport, presenting Davenports' Señorío De Khan !"

A gong rang as they cantered into the arena and halted to greet the judges.

I was counting in my head..."3.....2...1"
until the music started.

I collected Khan as we danced forward in a collected trot, and moved torwards the diagonal to extend as much as possible, and go back to a working trot right as we arrived back.

Khan was flicking his ears torwards the ocean a lot, I don't think he has ever really heard seagulls before.
But he was doing phenomenal.

And people tried telling me he wasn't worth the Show Ring when he was growing up.
Pathetic.

We may be different, but we're on the good side of that spectrum.
Khan is a performer.

He loves the attention.

Nobody should ever dare telling me again, he was not worthy of this.

My dear, sweet boy..

Movement after moment, we danced as the golden light was stroking us and slowly waving it's goodbye.
The waves drumming against the rocks, together with seagulls singing their farewell.
Everything felt like a orchestra.

...Into the pirouette, turn..Turn...Turn...
Collect the Canter.....And halt.

I took off my head and greeted one last time, as I let loose my reins.

We did it.

We proved them wrong, Khan.
Let's do this again.
