"So, you're the one that's been causing all of this havoc?! Why? People deserve freedom and choice! Not blind obedience...I am Diana of Themyscia, Daughter of Hippolyta Queen of the Amazons. In the name of everything good in the world, I will destroy you! I fight on the side of justice and truth, and I most certainly won’t be beaten by the likes of you!”She scowls, drawing her blade and readying her shield. She looks ready for a fight to the death, and she doesn’t look particularly intent on losing.

Diana shrugs, looking uncertain for the first time in a little while that day.
"I don't think I've heard of her. Mother's told me lots of stories, and she's never come up."

"Diana, stop being silly... The Goddess created our world, gave us all life, and in exchange all she asks is complete and utter obedience..."
The redhead shrugs, taking advantage of their proximity to give Diana a quick kiss on the forehead.
"So... I think your dress could be saved. It just needs to dry off..."

Diana looks more concerned, not wanting to let it go.
"Obedience? Now, that I know isn't true. My mother fought a war to ensure our freedom, and I refuse to blindly obey a goddess I've never heard of."

Mera shakes her head, "Queen Hippolyta rules the Amazons on behalf of the Goddess. She relays the Goddess's will to your people, the same way my mother rules Atlantis... The Goddess rules, our parents are mere instruments of Her will.
And besides... It was the will of the Goddess that brought us together..."

Diana furrows her brow.
"But you're wrong! Zeus created us! Zeus defended the world against Ares! I carried out the will of Zeus when I struck Ares down!"

Mera giggles, leaning in for another kiss.
"Such a wonderful imagination you have, Diana..."

Diana pulls back, now offended
"I am not imagining that! Your mad if you think that there isn't something going on!"

"Diana, I don't understand... What are you saying?"
In the blink of an eye, a woman appears, stood on the shore behind Mera. The same woman depicted in the fountain, Diana realises, the woman she KNOWS she has seen somewhere before...
She blinks, and when her eyes open again, the woman is gone, vanishing along with Diana's outrage.
... Now that Mera mentioned it... What WAS she saying?

Diana backs down from her words, visibly shook from seeing the woman
"I don't remember Mera. I'm sorry for acting so haughty, that does not make a lady..."

Mera shrugs.
"Don't worry about it, Diana. Today must have been rather stressful for you... You just need to relax, Princess."

She inhales then exhales softly as she begins to relax.
"You're right...I feel bad that the other girls didn't really get a chance...with you being so bold and all..."

Mera grins, giving Diana another quick kiss.
"Victory comes only to the bold, Lady Diana. Now, your dress? If you want to go back to the party, it would probably be wise to let it dry first..."

Diana looks mildly embarrassed.
"You're proposing I remove it?"
Her tears are now replaced with red hot blush.

"Well, it's hardly going to get dry while we're swimming if you're wearing it, is it sweetie?"

Diana's face somehow seems to get even more red, although it is needed. So the girl begins to slowly peel off the dress, revealing her body to Mera

The Princess of Atlantis swims around behind Diana, helping her to remove the dress. It takes a few minutes, and they realise halfway through that they've managed to lose one of Diana's shoes at some point during their escape, but soon enough the dress is laid out flat on the ground, far enough away from the pool that it isn't at risk of being splashed.
Finally free of its constraints, Diana finds swimming to stay afloat much easier.

Her head hung in an almost submissive matter, Diana seems to be ready to get out of the water as she makes her way towards the edge of the pool, still very uncomfortable in nudity

"What's wrong?" Mera asked, swimming after her.
In truth, Diana wasn't entirely sure. Amazons shared beds in winter for warmth, and showered and bathed together in the waterfalls... Communal nudity was a fact of life on the Amazon Isles, certainly nothing to be ashamed of... And yet, something about Lady Mera was... Different.

She didn't know. It could have something to do with her blinding crush on the woman...but that was just a theory.
"This shouldn't bother me...but around you it does...is my body...attractive to you?"

Mera chuckles, raising an eyebrow.
"Is that it? Diana, you've got nothing to worry about. You're gorgeous... You seriously didn't know?"

"I haven't exactly had much of a way to look at myself...and being around women your whole life kind of would make you dull to the concept..."

"Diana, you mean... You mean nobody has ever... Not even Artemis? Dessa, or Techne? Acclipe? Kasia? They all speak of you...though, I suppose, you are their Princess..."

"I don't get spoken to very much out of respect for the Queen. I'm sure you understand, being a princess yourself."

Atlantis is actually one of SEVEN kingdoms of the sea and, while Atlantis is both the largest and most powerful, the likes of Venturia and Xebel are constantly vying for power... My mother does her best to keep the peace, but there are limits to how much one woman, even Queen Marella, can achieve.
A marriage to the Princess of Themiscyra would change that. The Amazons are the fiercest Warriors in the entire world, and with the support of your people, nobody would ever dare challenge Atlantis again...
In Atlantis, it isn't the oldest heir, but the most competent who inherits the throne. In securing an alliance with the Amazons, I was somewhat hopeful that I would cement my own place on the throne..."

She blinks, trying to break down and comprehend the politics and history of the kingdoms of the sea. She responds feebly.
"So I'd give up my throne? All my people could come live in the sea?"

Mera giggles.
"No, Diana. You'd still become Queen of Themiscyra, should your mother ever pass on the title. We would, I suppose, each rule our own kingdoms separately... Or govern them together? I'm not entirely sure. To be honest, I never took much of an interest in these things until I heard mother was planning on giving my sister the throne..."

"But then we'd be too far apart..."
This option seems to displease Diana.
"What's wrong with your sister? Is she mean to you?"

"Siren? She's... Well, a good little Atlantean girl. Which is code for boring. There's a reason all my friends are fish.
I could visit you whenever, I suppose. Mother has so many advisors and chancellors, I'm sure if not for Clea and the others causing trouble, Atlantis could govern itself perfectly well without me."

"I don't think long distance would be good...could I live under the sea without dying horribly?"

"I'm sure we could find a spell somewhere. Besides, lots of Atlantis has air, not water. Only parts of it are entirely aquatic...besides, I could always just live on this island, with you."

Diana smiles, grabbing her Mera's hands in hers
"Could you? I'd love that so much!"
This appeals to the young princess as she happily plants a kiss on her forehead

Mera giggles, hugging Diana tightly.
"I'd love that, so, so much, Diana! Hey... Want to hear a secret?"

Diana giggles like a schoolgirl.
"Ooh a secret? About what?"

Mera takes Diana by the shoulders, looking directly into her eyes. Her voice, when it comes, is low and hushed, as if terrified someone might hear her.
"I... I'd never kissed anyone before today..."

"You don't have to look so afraid about it...you did a good job...at least I thought so..."
Diana pulls her in for a hug, trying to calm her down

Mera smiles at this, hugging Diana back.
"Well... I suppose that's good enough for me."
Giggling, she lifts herself out of the pool and sits on the little bank beside it, her legs dangling over the side, feet and calves still submerged.

"So, shall we go tell my mother that this is official now?"
Diana beams, offering to help her out of the water

"Oh... I'd quite like to stay in the water for a little longer... Feel free to go ahead without me, if you want, I'll only be a couple of minutes... Don't you want your dress to dry first?"

She looks down, blushing again
"I suppose I've gotten used to it. I guess we can wait a bit longer."

Mera chuckles, patting a patch on the ground beside her, clearly inviting Diana to sit.
"I just... There's something about the water. Air, moving through it, it's... Well, it's just a little terrifying. There's all that sky up there, and I can't swim up to it..."

"Air in the water? I'm not sure I follow Mera..."
Diana sits, slightly confused as to what she's afraid of

Mera gestures upwards, arms flailing wildly.
"All that sky! Down in Atlantis, even in the sealed off air bubbles, you've got water all around you. You can swim through it, and it's just there, protecting you... But up here... Nothing. There's nothing over your heads, other than the buildings you put there... I mean, aren't you scared that you might just fall off the Earth if you jump too high?"

Diana stifles a laugh, before bursting out into full blown giggles
"No! Because that's not how it works! The men haven't even found a way to get past the sky yet!

"Hey! Don't laugh, I'm serious!" Mera pouts. "I just... There's so much of it... And only the birds really know what's up there...anything could be hiding up there, just behind the clouds, and there isn't any water up there to keep them out..."

"Well...why don't we find out?"
Diana wraps her arm around Mera's waist and leaps as high as she can

Mera's eyes go wide as, arms flailing, she screams. The pair soar skywards, far, far higher than Diana had thought possible - had her legs always been so strong? - with Mera screaming all the while, very clearly terrified.

Diana laughs at her height she's reached, remember how she's made the motion. But she didn't remember how high she was able to leap, she and Mera hit the ground with a thud.
"Wow! Sorry about that Mera...didn't even know how high I could go..."

(Ja! I'm about to try writing for a bit, so I'll probably go dark for a little while. Shouldn't be more than an hour or so, hopefully. 
Mera's chest heaves with each massive, gulping panic-breath.
"D-don't... Promise... Promise me you'll never do that again..."
