A doodle I made a while ago. This is Mat's nerdy friend Calvin.

Mat and Calvin are both nerdy, but in their own way - Calvin is more of a scientific nerd who understands stuff about mathematics and calculations better than Mat does. Mat is more of a cultural nerd who knows more odd facts about stuff like countries, movies and technology.

Calvin is not as social as Mat and tends to speak in a didactic tone (like Spock from Star Trek). Alhough he doesn't seem to show much emotion on the outside, it's still inside, and when he gets excited he'll let it out, forgetting his high diction.

Mat and Calvin are good friends. If they ever were to fight, it would be about something nerdy, like the pronunciation of 'either' - Calvin would go with the 'correct' method of /ˈaɪðər/, while Mat would go with /ˈiːðər/ because it sounds better.
