Or "James Goes Buzz Buzz" for American audiencesThis is the animated bee from the season 3 Thomas and Friends episode "Buzz Buzz/James Goes Buzz Buzz", based off the Railway Series Story of the same name (for the former).
As a kid, I remember being very intrigued seeing an animated insect cross over with a live action model set TV show (at that time, I hadn't seen "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" or "Space Jam"
), along with the little flock of bees flying around as animated dots. Many Thomas fans have claimed the bee scared them as kids. He never scared me (although I can see why with the angry facial expression and the loud airplane-like roar when he swooshes back down to sting James on the nose), but seeing James with a red nose sure did (he looked like a clown!
), as well as (since I'm part of the American audience) George Carlin (as James') loud "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (I was very sensitive to loud noises as a kid).The bee was extremely hard to draw. Definitely one of the most frustrating drawings I've ever attempted recreating. None the less, I hope you all like it!

When I was a kid, I thought that animated bee cake from a Warner Bros. cartoon like from Animaniacs or Tiny Toons. Because it reminded me of that artstyle.

This never frightened me when I was younger. And if you think that bee is disturbing, try Rusty's Ghost Story, Stepney's near death at the smelters or The entire Haunted Henry episode.

He didn't scare me, I was too busy having my mind blown by the usage of traditional animation in a live action series (though many would claim that the model series is technically animation to a degree).
I also drew this guy last year and seeing this might've motivated me to upload it eventually. I also roughed out one for James after being stung by the bee a few weeks ago that I need to motivate myself to finishing.

Yeah, the show being a... ehm, "cartoon" is debatable imo. But yeah, seeing a cartoon in a model set TV show definitely had me at shock. (I remember thinking the bee came from Looney Tunes.
You should definitely upload it if you feel the desire (the bee drawing). I would shoot myself in the leg (personally) if I had to draw it on paper (I prefer digital).

Yeah, seeing an animated bee in the show was definitely mind-blowing when I first saw the episode as a kid. But I think they only did it because having model bees flying would have just looked weird.

That was quite something to see. A cartoon bee in TTTE. They don't do that anymore.
