That's cool. You could read it as Samus either bleeding or drooling Phazon, either of which is unsettling.
It's a shame MP3:C didn't spend more time on just how the corruption was affecting her. All we really got were her biohazard readouts and the reflection of her eyes. They could have done a lot more with the idea.
