Description
Kasheral entered his main lab, to discover one of his drone servants left the window open again. He ran quick before any brimstone smoke could enter the room, but then he turned around and saw his haste left the door open too; he closed too. After a moment of checking around, it felt like nothing, so he walked to one of this tabled experiments to check on the progress. It was a mortal rat he'd been working with, it was chained down and was growing thick with fat and scales. Kasheral poured a bowl of feed and gave it to rat, and then watched as the mere rat devoured it like a savage monster. The scales started to cut fur off as they grew, stubs started to appear in the skull. Kasheral took out a journal and wrote some notes. When he looked back at the rat, a figure stood over it. Dark grey fur with a white underbelly, robed loosely and wearing an emerald necklace."Quite the creation you've got here." Deimos said, looking over the rat, "Looking more and more like Ubel the more he eats." Then he looked at Kasheral. "Though I know this isn't a cloning test."
"How did you get in here?" Kasheral said, and then looked at the window he recently closed, "How did you even unlock that."
Deimos simply smiled, "Well, accidents do happen." and he walked around the table, "Especially around me." And he pulled out an opaque flask. "Besides, I like it in here. Always full of surprises."
Kasheral glared at him, "We shoot straight in the building, Deimos, cut to the chase."
"Can't a dear traveler just offer what they've found?" Deimos asked, throwing his hands up in a shrug, "I'm clearly the only king who ventures out to earth."
"No thank you," Kasheral said, and walked to a table covered with racks of test tubes, "I never need a thing from up there, and when ever I do need something sent, I can have one of the drones do it for me."
"Like when you sent up rats with The Black Death plague? or had someone lace small pox in European gifts to Native Americans?" Deimos said, "They had an impact, but only got so far. It'd have worked better with my agents." He walked beside him, "Besides, I can get you some stuff to research out of it. Found a dead, flea-bitten, rat still with the plague. How's that for something to study?"
"Irrelevant." Kasheral said, not looking Deimos in the eyes as he mixed fluids, "Angels guided humans already to create vaccines, that plague would be a mere spread and fade even faster."
"Oh come, now Kash-"
"Not interested."
Deimos looked at him, but then looked away. "Alright," And he stepped to the side of the table and tilted his flask, "I just have another question..." As the flask tilted more, the liquid inside poured into a test tube, and then another one, "What have you been up to?"
Kasheral saw and pulled the tubes away, "What are you doing?" he shouted
"I'd ask you the same." Deimos said, "Carrying holy water? What is forbidden here for how acidic it is to us?"
Kasheral looked at the test tubes, the liquid was as clear as water, but there was no telling if it had been blessed or not.
"Have you been experimenting with it?" Deimos asked, smirking "Some new chemical weapon? Against the other demons?"
"You were the one pouring the stuff in these!" Kasheral shouted, "You're the one with the holy water!"
"Oh? That's not what they heard?" Deimos looked to the door, "Right?" Footsteps could be heard outside the door, running away, "Imagine if the others knew about this? Nazar might actually get off his butt for this. Or worse, could you imagine Ares at his most furious? He once broke his mistress's legs just because he was bored."
"Fine!" Kasheral shouted, "Take the rat and go!"
"Now, now," Deimos said, wagging a finger, "I'm not here to rob you; I wanted to make a deal." He looked over at the rat, and the vials around it. "I know that it's under a disease you made, one infused with magic to turn mortals into demons."
"It's not finished, It's still too slow," Kasheral said "And progression takes requirements."
"Oh, no. That sounds perfect. The cruelty behind it would be slow and painful.. if it doesn't kill them." Deimos smiled. "So a trade. That plagued corpse, for your research, and I'll take the vials of that plague in return."
"Fine, just be sure you keep to it, and stop that spy from spreading those rumors!" Kasheral shouted.
Deimos simply grinned, "Thank you, Kasheral." And he shook his hand, "You won't regret this... and I know you won't either." He walked past him, took the vials, and walked to the window.
Kasheral glared at him, "I swear, if you sneak in here again, Deimos..."
"You'd never know, unless I wanted you to." Deimos grinned and spread his wings, "You may have the greatest brains of demons, by my eyes see more than you ever could." Then, with a flap of his wings, he was gone.
Kasheral let out a hard huff and slammed the window shut. "Cursed fool, taking the samples rather than the research itself. I'll be able to make something more than he could with just those, and out do him in the end, and he'd never know it." he looked to the open door, and then ran to close and lock it.

There's just something about seeing the art and story together that makes it feel complete versus one or the other. ^^
