Hello, I'm the artist who drew this. I'll tell you what you missed out or so.

I actually had the concept of a bat plane thanks to flutterbat from MLP but I drew the first concept art of bat plane of my character, Windy the 767, on june 2015

I followed the same concept from mlp flutterbat to the plane. Why? Because I thought it was cool and also wanted to combined both of my favorite things together at that time(mlp and living planes)

At first, I didn't add ears until November 1, 2015

I was really unsure on how else to draw the ears so I decided to make them "metal" but eh, I think now I should had used the fluffy bat ears instead like in mlp..

Now, 2017, that I'm getting used to the mlp art style, I decided to draw it differently..

I haven't uploaded my new version on DA yet, only on amino, tumblr, and FA(I do have it as my ID pic on my profile if you want to see Windy the bat plane, mlp style though).

Later on, Mac asked me to draw a headshot of his character as a bat plane. So there it is.
You didn't miss out on much but that's just a brief background on why their is an airplane with (mlp style) bat ears
