Description This is a very old piece, one of the very first watercolors I did when I discovered that micron pens do not bleed ink, not even under the onslaught of watery painting techniques I employ.
In any case, this isn't a character or anything. Just an angel, arguing with the heavens. This is a bit of a theme with me, angels railing against the rules that bind them from helping humans more. *shrugs*

Arches Rough 300 weight paper, watercolors and micron ink

Great job with the perspective and the curve to the wings

I get back from seeing angels and cherubs everywhere to see this in my box? It's a little wierd.

I love the forshortening, and it's nice to see an angel in casual clothes rather than some Roman-outfit-wanna-be. And the wings are freakin' COOL!

Microns don't bleed even on watercolor paper? I need to remember that. Thanks for the inadvertent tip!

no prob! Yeah, it was a very good thing to discover. The only problem with them is that it's hard to vary line width, but what I do is first, I ink with microns. Then I paint, and then I go back over with a nib pen and ink some more! Cuz nib pen ink looks cool... But only if I'm certain I'm done painting. There are so many inks out there that say they are waterproof... but they ain't

Ooooh. Thank you for the warning on the inks. I found with the microns, though, that the company makes something called a brush tip pen that I think uses the same inks that produces some very nice varied line widths. Unfortunately, most stores don't carry them--I know Michael's doesn't, at any rate--so you have to quest for them and sometimes even special order some of them. I don't have any myself, but my pal ~Haruo does, so you may try asking her.

Michael's never carries anything specific *grouses*. I think I do have one of those, actually. I haven't played with it much, cuz it's a bit flimbsy for my taste, but it probably just takes practice. I wish they made one that was right between the two, with a brush tip but a little firmer and thinner.
