Beautiful render and little story...where can I get that ivy? Still available? Did you make Snow Whites outfit or that out there somewhere, too? Thanks!

I "grew" the ivy- It's a free plugin for C4D: You choose the path and then the ivy grows along it - Very good but very heavy on the RAM.
The Dress is an old model from 9MBi (I don't think they even exist anymore ), I converted it to OBJ and then "clothified" it so it would hang properly

Ah, gotcha, thanks for replying. that's a cool idea...I wonder if I could get something like "growing ivy" working in Maya...hhmmm...
Anyway, thanks great stuff!

Yep: you're right. she doesn't need the sweet of an apple but rather some C-vitamin for the eight coreshearts engine that makes this house live
And I agree: the White thread is rather... stimulating

since you're a nautical engineer (yes) I guess that makes that a Naval (navel) orange, yes?
Fun and clever, and definitely both sides of this exchange are definitely hot. Too bad about her rejection of the Apples. Hopefully now the queen's magic won't banish her to the Third Circle of Dell
Btw… the old adage "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." Have the Daleks thought of that particular battle strategy yet?

"Third Circle of Dell" ... Do you realise how much culture and knowledge you have had to accumulate over the years just to make these puns. I told you last year...You should be out there running a country!!!!
I love that "Apple a day idea!"... Do it, do it, do it...... do it!

Well there's plenty of room for puns in a person's brainy wrinkles if you don't worry about trivial things… like math
Sadly I don't have any of the Doctor props yet, but in the meantime I'd love to see you give it a try

I had to kneel down to take this pic, otherwise we wouldn't have seen Snow White's giggle band
I'm extremely pleased you mentioned the apples, they're almost not really there yet still very important as the original offering.

I used to watch a detective series called Midsomer Murders featuring at least 6 murders per episode, I'd 've sacked the main detective after epsisode 1!!!

The Ruling Classes... Old stock, the type of English people who are and always will be my betters. They do exist but they are a dying race. And as much as I despise that way of life I both admire them and feel sorry for them.
Despite being born in London, I am from working class Irish parents - I honestly remember the "No blacks, No dogs, No Irish" signs on the shop doors, I also remember my mother and I being escorted out of a shop because I inadvertently said "Mammy" instead of "Mummy" (the plan was not to speak while we were shopping) ... Am I bitter? Not at all! Surely the people who own the country make the rules, not the guests. Funny thing is I experienced a lot more bigotry in Ireland for being English... I've always been a guest, even more so here in the Basque Country (I suppose in my case "The Man in the Glass Booth" springs to mind).

It's hard to cast a curse using an orange, because for your incantation, you can't find a word that rhymes with 'orange'.
Personally, I'd like to see Snow White eating a banana.

Bandana, cabana, savannah, and a bunch of names like Diana, all rhyme with banana.
Oh, and Snow White falling into her deep slumber with a banana still in her mouth would look pretty suggestive.

Woot!
Oh, and if you go into the parameters of the skirt, and reduce just the 'y-scale', you can make the skirt shorter, while still having it fit the waist. It may not work for this skirt/dress combo, though, but it works on a lot of the stand alone skirts.

madaigual In reply to demontroll [2014-04-18 21:38:51 +0000 UTC]
I agree with phraught here, if the skirt were shorter we wouldn't get that guilty voyeuristic feeling of glimpsing UP her skirt.
I did actually shorten it, not by using the Y scale but rather "select polygon loop x 2 and delete"! Cut and slash, cut and slash...That's my motto (To reduce file size I normally delete every unseen polygon/point. The Queen in the pic is only her head/neck/hands... She's not naked under her dress, she's just not there!!!
My X/Y/Z scale experiments were last year... Z scale to practically "0" , never found much more use for it though (Although I did use it on the fossil dalek last week)

Oh, yes, this image is just right how it is, for reasons you both explain. I was attempting to share technique, but I'm getting the feeling I am the armchair quarterback telling Brett Favre how to throw the ball better.

Ah yes, but the skirt length is perfect! Just a glimpse (from down here) of the giggle band.

demontroll In reply to phraught [2014-04-18 16:24:13 +0000 UTC]
Yes, everything is good here, I wasn't implying this image needed changing in that way. A shorter skirt allows for a higher camera angle to get the same result in future images. Although if your cameraman is a dwarf, all the camera angles will be from a lower perspective.

Ha - and I wasn't trying to critique your comment - mostly I as trying to work the phrase "giggle band" into the discussion one more time. Nice perspective on the cameraman's perspective.

HA! I saw the image and the title and I knew... the combination of detail and humor - it had to be you. I love all the detail - the "No Apple" logo is nice. I really love Snow's glaring expression and man, that evil queen did herself up right this time! ("Magic mirror on the wall... oh my, I'm HOT!")
And I particularly like Ms. White's choice of leg wear (and such).
Yummy. Makes me hungry for apples... or something.

I needed to remember how to "grow ivy", it's a lovely freebie but I haven't used it for almost 2 years
(since "The Curse": ) No more heads thru things time for IVY .
Evil Queen has to be pretty, she's only outdone by Snow White - You see, I do a lot more thnking than rendering.

Ah yes, but didn't she transform herself into an ugly hag so as not to be recognized? Or was that a Disney-ism? (BTW: only yesterday did I learn that the phrase is not: "Mirror, mirror on the wall…", but "Magic mirror on the wall…".)
Still I much prefer this look for the queen.
