EDIT: I forgot to add Sar'idikk's lighter belly color. And corrected the line thru Chaunn's upper hand. And changed the fire to something that looks like it could be a digital display (thanks Rachael!) And added the shadows. I think I'm done now LOL.Holy. Effing. Hard. Frustrating. Background.
I almost DIDN'T finish this because I hated the background. But it's a trade so I had to...
Miss *rachaelm5 and I are swappin' some artz.
And here's my portion. She wanted her OC telling an extravaggant(I know that's not spelled right) story, an epic tale that needs to be told in person. So...here she is entertaining Sari and her little Kwei.
I tried to make *rachaelm5 's Yautja look bigger than mine...because she totally IS. And Kwei's a squirt cuz she's a ooman. Please be gentle when critiquing the background. I am SOOOO not a background-drawing-typea-girl... U_U
Enjoy. And yes this is the story time alluded to in my 1st chapter in "The Final Request".

But mostly, I wanted as many of the old warriors as possible, plus some of the others that have been drawn but not getting much tale time... as there will be some deceptions, battles, attacks, ambushes, intrigue, lies and plenty of action going on and I like having a large cast to play with... lol
Will be finishing the rewriting, polishing and tweaking of the CotD chapters, as well as adding more chapters to the current soap opera of events. Hope that those creative souls that are allowing usage of their characters enjoy the screen time - I'm hoping that I get them close to how they would behave.
Sar'idikk's father is going to be talked about in a chapter... Wolv'ren's sire is going to be in cameo like in a section. There is going to be a disappearance of at least one acolyte with the possibility of more... being harmed. There is a bomb, a survivor, a secret & an odd alien that isn't one, all this in more is coming in the next week or so...
So be aware... lol

oddly enough I've got the characters in my head. I focus on them and they begin to help me weave the story. There's some humor dashed in with all the mystery and intrigue.
It's fun and polishing the original is going well. Thanks, hope you like it. Have made the chapters 15pages each! lol Keeping it streamlined...

How old is Kwei here? When you did the Prologue, how old was she when that event ended? Do you have an idea?
After reading the prologue, what I could find of it... I decided to timeline the tale I've been in collaboration with my son, Necros. I figure that this would be a good point, after the event that happened with Torachande and that whole bloody mystery.
I'm also having him on the Dechende since more than likely he lost another ship at the end of that event... seems like a common happening at least. lol

Subtle, but effective! I do like the green flames better; I think they were dominating the picture as red/orange before. I wouldn't have even realized it until you changed it, though. Good call.

I know what you mean by saying backgrounds are a pain in the *ss to draw. I totally feel ya on that one, I hate drawing them too.
I like this scene very much, I can totally see Chaunn telling this epic story (whatever it might be about) to those two others.

Awome =3 love the look on the one telling a story X3 definately looks lke she tryng to exaggerate or something haha! Love the efect with the purple (smoke?) flowing around, definately adds to it. Great job all around!

You're welcome. I'm afraid that's all that Torachande has left; tales being told by other people. As you may have seen, I've retired him permanently. If I ever do write him in earnest, it won't be for a long time.

*snicker* Sar'i looks BORED, and Kwei utterly enthralled. Evidently, Chaunn's going to have to work on her storytelling skills, or she's going to have to tell a story for the adults later, after Kwei goes down for a nap.
I like the body arrangement very much - the anatomy is complex and interesting, and the combination of colors is very much to my liking.
...Okay, the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this picture was, "a fireplace on a spaceship...?" Well, yes, if it's a digital display, that works just dandily.

Nooo... But there wasn't a fireplace involved there. Tor burned the chopsticks on the floor of Chaunn's trophy gallery. Kind of like a cat leaving you a present on your bed to show its irritation.

One of our roommates cats used to do that to her. She would be gone almost all the time. The poor cat would walk around meowing and stuff almost all the time, then we'd hear about how it peed or crapped on her bed, and we'd laugh at her.
