I was taking pictures of the view, fisherman, bathing ppl. There was a tiny voice calling me...there she stood, waiting for me to take her picture. Bali children always smile when they see a camera, ... but this girl, I think she was so nervous/shy when I did take the picture, that she forgot to smile. However, ppl are so poor in that part of the world, maybe she couldn't think of anything to smile about.I'll never know

Just a tip: when taking pictures of people who aren't as tall as you, bend down and become eye level with the model. There are some other technical things you could have done as well to bring the subject out a little more. What type of camera are you using?

Well, in this case I had to zoom her in, I was standing in a bungalow about 3 meters higher then her and 10 meters away... all I have is the minolta dimage Z1. I would love to have a better camera, on the other hand, so many people have nothing at all... like this little girl, she probably never saw a camera before....
