Description      The errands seemed simple enough. He finished earlier today than he originally estimated, so Vance was more than okay to return to the castle in order to fulfill other things listed on today's agenda. Footsteps tap on the pavement of the castle entrance, only to pause before a heavy moaning, creaking sound filled the air. Vance walked through the main castle entrance an began his walk to his corridors. He knew that there was something off though.
Why are the lights off? Did we get a blackout?
The castle never really had electricity problems before, aside from Aiden's mishaps from his failed inventions or from his surprisingly, haunting past. However, being one for caution (and sometimes, paranoia), Vance already summoned two daggers, floating behind him as a means of protection for himself and a warning to whoever dares try to attack him or the inhabitants of the Rose Castle.
Vance proceeded towards one of the light switches peppered throughout the whole castle; however, no light was activated. Is Rosa home? Surely the princess wouldn't leave the castle without at least informing him, right? He continued to the main hallway, and beyond the throne room to another set of more dusty, rickety, wooden double doors. The castle has generators in case of inconveniences like these...
Stepping down to the pavement steps, Vance proceeded down into the macabre dungeon of a cellar below the castle. Unlike the rest of the castle above, the only source of light came from the seemingly endless array of torches that lines the stone brick walls within the dark room. No one really goes down here anymore, and adding lights would've just seem so...wasteful, right?
As the tapping of footsteps became more amplified by the aid of the large pillared room, the sounds of other footsteps wandering around the basement seemed to be just an illusion conjured up by the mind, right? Those footsteps were just me, right? As a person who does not take risks, Vance began to conjure up more knives, an array of them circling around his person as a means to protect himself and scare the possible other soul that resides in this basement.
      "Who's there?" Vance called.
They believe that they are stronger than him. Vance was never one who appreciated being manipulated. After all, he has a castle to take care of, he can't afford to be stupid. It would also mean having an iron fist to show that he is not one to attach puppet strings to.
"I will ask you once more. Who is there? If you show yourself, I will not attack."
He paused and stood before within the faint center of the room, edges and walls only being truly lighten within the basement while the darkest heart of the room is lied within the center, where Vance is waiting.
"I wonder if I'm finally losing my mind." the adviser mumbled, walking to the next room within the basement, a practical clone of the previous room: large, lined with pillars and torches being the only aid for light.
At the end of the room lied a few generators. Walking over, the adviser switched them all on, to assure some kind of power will flow through the whole castle, it was sunset when he made it back from his errands, after all. The light must have flowed straight through all right, he can even see a beams of light from both doorways of the basement rooms he had walked through.
The tapping of shoes along the thin, old carpet, covering the pavement floor the basement, seemed quiet. At least for a short while, until a loud switch is sounded from the generators, and echoing throughout the room and sucking up the beams of light from existence, immediately followed by running footsteps, loud, panicked yet mischievous.
That was the cue Vance needed, with a turn of his heels, purple eyes glowing in the dark out of anger, and yet, from also being startled.
"Intruders are not welcomed." The daggers flew at a bullet's speed.

Welp that was long and unnecessary, but....it was so much fun so I thought I'd post a drawing of Vance that I did recently. It was actually vent art due to stress, which actually helped might I add but yea, I follow up to that Mary Sue test I did -->purplespectrum98.deviantart.co…

Uwahhh I feel so bad for having to water mark it, but I kinda have to. I honestly really like this

Also, I never really put that much effort into writing an excerpt like this....was it good?
