Penny. A very surly and sarcastic little girl with all the cynicism of a 50 year old gin swilling divorcee! She is accompanied by her giant toy box and trusted protector, Farthing, which was designed and built by her talented brother Wilfred.
For many years both she and her older brother spent time in orphanages and then the streets where they refused to be separated, devotedly staying at each other's sides, facing all problems with diligence and perseverance. Penny's luck was about to change when her brother's new invention lead to a new found wealth and comfort, but their luck diminished when it became clear that something was happening to her brother. Something that was changing him. She didn't know what it was. She awoke one morning to find her brother missing, leaving a case of money and a note "I will return I promise, trust me when I say that I do this for you. Farthing will protect you, Love Wilf." Stubbornly, along with her loyal protector Farthing and neighbour Billy , she set out to find her brother.
