Spoilers for Moon Rising below...In the books it's mentioned that Carnelian had dreams of becoming a general. She should have gotten there ;-; Carnelian, my favorite SkyWing babe, rest in peace. Like, I'm seriously wishing that she would come back somehow, but I know that's not happening soooo. Yeah. She needs more love yo, I loved her personality <3 Carnelian was my favorite dragon in the Jade Winglet, right next to Qibli. This took a little while, and now I remember why I don't draw fire. I tried using some tutorials but y'know, yeah.
I'm trying my best to draw as much Wings of Fire fanart as I can before I go away on my trip. Also just trying to draw as much as possible in general before I go on my trip. (Ha, get it? General? No? Okay...)

I have an unfortunate theory that Carnelian was placeholder so Peril could do plot-important things then still get into the Winglet and Tui never intended for us to like her

Oh dang it. I think she made it so we thought Carnelian would get character development then killed her off in a really lame way to try to make us emotional. It's a cruel trick writers like to pull, make you like a character so much that you get attached to them then kill them off. Peril will never take Carnelian's place in my hhheeaaarrrttt ;o; x'D

The music fits her so perfectly, why didn't I think of that - ok getting to the point, I agree with you she was one of my favs beside Qibli too, but then she died. And then peril came in. Then peril ' s getting the 8th book, so yea, make way for the needy and seemingly desperate dragon?

Idk, I just normally listen to Two Steps From Hell anyways x'D Even though Carnelian's dead, I'll still love her. I wish Carnelian got the 8th book ;-; I wanted to see her still chilling with the rest of her winglet. We haven't had a SkyWing protagonist yet, Carnelian was the first one and I was all like "YAY!" Then she died and I was like "TUI WHYYYY?"

Exactly! A POV from Peril would more or less be all about how sad she is that she can't be with Clay or whatever, and that would be the only thoughts from her that are even close to sympathetic. Carnelian could tell us SOOO much more about SkyWing culture than Peril. Besides, I was hoping for a red dragon on the cover. Not another golden-orange DX

Yeah, I'm hoping Tui doesn't just have her head over heels with Clay the whole time and being all sad and stuff. I liked Carnelian because she wasn't senselessly optimistic like most of our other protagonists, which would have been interesting to see how she got along with them. I also believe that Carnelian would have an interesting take on SkyWing culture while Peril would just be like "Yo, I kill things". IceWing culture will be interesting to learn about too though, since we haven't really seen many IceWings yet .o.

Yeah, some of us can only take so much of Kinkajou's optimism and cheerfulness before we pass out. I do too, Carnelian, having been a soldier and in the army, would understand the militaristic culture very well. Peril would only know that SkyWings get excited when she kills things. I can't wait for IceWing culture, the fact that they're very prideful like the NightWings is very interesting.

It's going to be interesting because we know pretty much nothing about IceWings. Hvitur and Queen Glacier were the only IceWing characters we ever saw in the first five books (if I remember correctly). And Moon Rising isn't really summing anything up either. It'd be interesting to have Carnelian explain what happened during the war with the SkyWings. Because we already know about the MudWing fighting strategies and stuff, but nothing really about SkyWings.

(We also knew Cirrus.) And exactly, the only thing we know about SkyWings is that they used the dragonflame cactus. Although, we really know nothing of how the IceWings fight either. Maybe Winter's position can tell us about it.
