“… in addition to those who can warp elements or affect minds and spirits, there are also those who have been physically changed in ways that seem alarmingly similar to the werewolves and vampires of old. These poor sods, usually within the adolescent to early thirties ages, wind up undergoing several physiological changes that grant them supercharged abilities, but at the potential cost of humanity.

Contrary to popular belief, these vampires do not burn up in the sun. However, their senses, reflexes and other abilities are significantly reduced in it, as well as suffering from sunburn and a much more irritated mood. In addition, they don't have 'fangs'. Not in their standard form that is. In addition, they are not immortal. If anything, their heightened metabolism means they may not live as long as a normal human. Blood is postulated to have the ability to extend their lifespans, but this has diminishing effectiveness over time. Finally, their own blood is much darker than ordinary, not quite black, but not far from it. It is postulated to be what gives them their powers.

In their vampiric form however, they become much more fearsome. Their teeth become darker, more pointed (not just the canines, but the whole damn mouth). Their hands begin to quickly grow talon, capable of slashing at foes, yet never piercing the skin on their own hands. Their eyes become heavily bloodshot, and because of their dark blood, they appear almost black in color. And finally, so much blood begins to run through them at such speed, it begins to come out of their mouth, ears, nose and eyes. The sight of one of these coming at you in a dark corner is indeed a good cure for constipation.

They do however suffer from The Hunger. This is a sense of blood lust and thirst that if not sated or mastered, could result in the vampire in question devolving into a feral state consumed by a desire to have FRESH WARM BLOOD. The problem is that blood has an almost narcotic effect upon vampires, meaning that if they don't get mastery, they could get addicted to the stuff.

On the plus side though, their strength and agility are extremely powerful, and their reflexes are now second to none. A trained vampire has such skill, that they have the ability to deflect bullets away with sword, like the Gray Fox himself.

When The College first came across them, they realized that despite their almost inhuman nature, vampires were still human people in changed bodies. The College decided to take vampires under their wing, teaching them the arts of meditation, Kung Fu and parkour, in the hope that it would grant them the power to master their own hunger.

And it worked. Mind you, it also makes them quite possibly the deadliest foes on the planet as a result, but that's a happy accident.”
