I think I understand you !.. At first I liked the elves, I read their history, skipping past the creation of the world and the first days of Arda, but with time .... With time, I became interested in the beginning and Valar, who are Arda’s soul.

Ah, I feel you! Reading "The Silmarillion" in general gave me another perspective on elves, who seem to be so perfect and smart in LOTR, I prefer elves from 'The Silmarillion" though, having more variety of personalities.

But same here! Ainur are very interesting creatures indeed.
