Description Arak Silvertip, one of the Fighter's in the Dungeons & Dragons (first edition, not that 4.0 stuff) game I joined this past weekend.

As with all of my images, this was rendered in DazStudio 4.6 and post worked in Photoshop CS5.

From what I've heard 1st ed is decent, more a fan of 3.5/Pathfinder myself (more Pathfinder than 3.5 these days).

In the end it all depends on the Game Master. I was a first level wizard with two spells, Magic Missile and Sleep. In first edition you have to rest to get your spells back after casting them once.  The GM let me have my Intelligence bonus as the number of missiles created with each spell, so I could have three in the spell, but I was still dismally weak compared to every other character I've ever played. I had a robe and a high Dex, so my Armor class was a measly 8. He let me roll a D6 for Hit Points and I was fortunate enough to get 5. And I had a staff that did 1D6 damage.  That's it, no skills, no feats, just straight up old school D&D wizard.

I had a blast. I used my magic missile the first time to save the thief from a tiger attack, and my sleep spell to save the dwarves from it's mate. After getting my rest, I used the sleep spell centered on myself to take down the 23 baddies that had us surrounded; three of my fellow characters saved against the spell, and continued to do so each round until there were only three baddies left to fight; I used my second magic missile on one of them, and we had found a fireball scroll that I used to wipe out the sleeping baddies.

In the end my 5HP Wizard saved the day through two encounters.

Sounds good, if you go to my gallery and do a search for Gaming Stories you should get a few of the goofy things I've been able to do during some games.

First edition is where it's at!  We play a heavily homebrew game, no resting after casting once, we use spell points, 1rst level spells cost one 2nd cost 2 ect

I've always been a Palladium gamer, and have enjoyed the P.P.E. pool system immensely. The transition was pretty easy though as I enjoy a challenge.
