You can blame games like Call of Duty for that, and the bad console ports from Pirahna Games, and the long waiting period for the game.

i haven't played it (mostly because it Too mutch gore can make me a bit uncomfortable, and my mother won't let me play any games that have nudity.) i herd that the game wasn't too bad. it has a lot of fan servise, so it can be fun for duke nukem fans.
also i herd that the expansion pack is an improvement.

Nah, it wasn't terrible, you could just tell it was trying too hard. It's still worth a play, but I'd wait for a price drop.

Honestly don't let other people influence your decision to play the game. I had friends in the UK telling me it was shit but I said fuck 'em and got it anyway. Glad I did, loving me some new Duke.
