Description It had been a chance thing. You know, the kind when you just happen to take a different road home than usual and suddenly stumble across something special. In this case it had been a question of just happening to glance over an old billboard. Among the windtorn posters there had been pinned a bright orange flyer, boldly announcing a Show just for Nightmares.
At the time it had made the owner of DIS shake her head in disbelief. Some people would host anything. Who in their right mind would organize an event filled with creatures that weren't only dangerous but often downright crazy - not to mention their often superior strenght and stamina compared to normal horses. If even one got loose it would be carnage, absolute carnage.

That had been several weeks ago. Now, taking in the view of the assembled semi equines and their handlers, Mae still thought it was craze, but she was here anyway.
For one thing, it'd be a great opportunity to take stock of some of the best Nightmare blood out there, not to mention the chance of talking to owners, breeders and handlers about them and their problems and solutions with the dangerous but oh so compelling creatures.

There was another reason though. A reason she was all too much reminded of when seeing the different measures that had to be taken to contain and control many of the animals showing at the event. There were many that would like nothing better to get their teeth into the animal or human closest to them, quite literally.
The smell of anxiousness and anticipation not to mention the nervousness that were normal at shows, was absent here. Instead the air was tinted with the pent-up feriocity of the beasts gathered together, the taste of hunter, not prey.
Metal bangs echoed around the enclosure as powerful bodies slammed against the bars. The screams of challenge varied from low pitched growls to the high pitched tones that wouldn't have been unexpected from a raptor.

Mae looked over at the nightmare she'd brought with her. It was his first time outside of the Valley and he was clearly uncomfortable. The young stallion, his black coat and bloodred markings shining with perspiration, was moving effortlessly around the arena his eyes fixed on his human.
With his colouring and spikes, there were more than one in the audience who easily and quickly identified him as being a descendant of Depression, possibly the most dangerous nightmare still available for stud.
As the current program running was the halter category, non consider it strange when the black red stallion was
let out loose into the arena.
It wasn't until they realized that his handler, following the animal at a more leisurely pace that headshakes started rippling through the stands.
The smallest hints of a smile tugged at the corners of the owner's lips as she took her horse through the paces, determined to show that not every nightmare had to be dark of heart.

Sighs. I meant for the horse to be really shiny after a good workout and lots of tension, no luck there. Background was a real pain, I tried snow, grass, indoor arena...but kept messing all of them up. This one isn't great, but I finally gave up on the stupid thing. Too bad, seeing as I really do love Para, he's such a lovely horse

you are getting better and better with the shading, your "doesn't-look-wet-problem" could be solved by just adjusting contrast a bit.

and I like your choice of the background, it adds a flair that is like a caged big cat in a zoo... impressive though not planned^^

as I saw it on the thumb I really though Oh my what pissed Hollow off that much... I'm somehow relieved it isn't him^^

thanks. Wish I had more time to practice though, but I'm coming home so late from work at the moment it's not even funny *makes a face*

Sweet. Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out for the next pic (already played with this one, but as my highlights were blue, it looks a bit funny - but I think you might just have pointed me in the direction of a hidden gem, I'd completely forgotten about contrast and intensity

*grins* hehe...neat

Absolutely stunning! Even if it didn't come out as intended. He's so gorgeous, I swooned a little when I saw him. Gosh he sounds like such a sweetie, I just wanna hug him.

He is lovely. Such a complete difference to 99% of the rest of the bloodline.

Go ahead, he's got a soft velvety coat that is a dream to pet, and he loves attention, just watch yourself with the spikes

So lovely I may have to ask for a breeding when he's older.

*cuddles the young stally* Spikes don't bug me considering all the spiky horses at EM. lol

I was actually considering Bella Diva since I think her first breeding was canceled, I'm not sure what's going on there. I had such a nice story too. I think she needs her first to be easily intimidated. lol I shall finish things on my to do list first and get back to you.
