Description This is what happens when you let me buy books at garage sales... Earlier that day I had purchased a National Geographic book on the worlds oceans. Then I came back to the apartment and had to work with it. I'd never used a reference for a piece before. I really enjoyed the process...

This piece was the only 'Spirit Inspired' work I did during that summer, and one of two that occured during my relationship with the "raised-by-cannibals man".

I have always had a strong attraction to mermaids, and to this day I love to draw them. Going underwater has a similar attraction as going into space for me - foriegn and amazing, and I never get over it.

Dip quill and ink and many many hours at the kitchen table.

The detail of the plants/rocks is amazing! The dots on the mermaid's tail must have taken forever.

It was hours, but she was worth it. If I remember right, she is the one you asked for a copy of...
