Great proportions and detail. Drawing the outline of the individual scales would have made this almost photographic, but would have taken away from the fluidity of the pic. You reached a perfect balance.

Honestly, I don't know. Egg, marble, crystal ball, some really shiney bald guys head, it could be anything...
