for starters

-when you hold the right mouse button with your camera out you can zoom in and out, this usually improves the quality of the pic
-switch on anti aliasing to get rid of the choppy outline
-posing is paramount in gmod, it's best to take your time, if you have trouble posing tf2 characters, this mod can help steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles…
-using the face poser tool can help add character to any rag doll you intend on using in the image
-now in regards to lighting, you can use lamp tools to light up the place or you can find a tab in the gmod spawn menu that contains something called shaders where you can find the colour correction function, use this to add contrast to your image
