Description
Admittedly, I've not read the books. From what I understand, and what I've been told....yeah.And I'm not even going to get into the issues I have with the romanticization of the Stalker. Part of what I'm trying to prove with Uriel is that the Stalker is NOT who you want to get romantically involved with. There's usually a very sick mind behind a stalker.
Not to mention, the fact that she pitched a fit and swore to kill off all of her characters when her manuscript got leaked. Sorry, but, NO.

Do NOT read the books. THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE EFFORT. I've been forced to watch the movies, too....*shudders*
Bella is probably the worst character I've ever encountered. She has no personality, no good influences, and no hobbies except MAYBE staring out a window at the world moving on without her because her freaking killer boyfriend moved away FOR HER OWN GOOD. Talk about ungrateful.
And, uh, real men DON"T SPARKLE. This coming from a girl that will readily take tall, dark, and crazy any day.

I've not read the books, though I did watch the first movie and read several breakdowns on the terrible writing in the books.
You've pretty well nailed why the books/movies are so damaging to exist as literature; the erasure of personality of a woman in order for her to obtain "the perfect man", who is also a possessive, abusive stalker with many issues. I have to say, though, that I love that the actors HATE the series, and that RPatz even intentionally brought an element of loathing the character into how he played him. (Sad that people still squeed over it nonetheless).
Real men do what they want. They can sparkle as much as they can brood. XD The point is that VAMPIRES aren't sparkly creatures of the Rainy Weather.
(and sorry for a late response, I don't check dA very much anymore).

Truthfully? I'm not even sure they're worth everyone's time, anyway.
EXACTLY. I mean, Bella at least like cooking in the books, but...that was it. And the movie directors cut that out in the entire Saga. All she really did was...find out a guy was stalking her...be a brat...and get married to him in the end; that's pretty much it. And you know something's horrible when even the actors hate it. I mean, the Twilight Saga was a good series, but the plot and the main characters kind of ruined it. :\
Agreed. Real men don't feel compelled to stay in rainy weather just so people can't find out that they have glitter lotion permanently seared into their skin follicles.
(Ahh, it's okay. That's normal. )

I've encountered less likable, the problem is that she's completely blank. There isn't anything to hate; she has no personality, no existence outside of being in love with Edward, and the same applies to him. You can't hate what doesn't exist. XD

Exactly.
After wiki and stuff I think so far, Jacob Black is actually the most, well, human of the characters. He's a good friend, he gets pissy and angry for damn good reasons, he turns around in a really cliche turn of events and eventually gets written into a relationship with an infant. Who matures to look like a 17 year old. What's with Stephanie Meyer and 17? Plus anyway he was a werewolf and they don't sparkle, even in the novels. That all counts for something.

Really, what did Meyer NOT steal in her series? I mean, the concept of the sparkling bishounen existed in anime long before her novels, as did the klutzy mary-sue, vampire families that battle, vampires vs Lycanthropes (i.e. White Wolf RPG or Underworld), A vampire that regrets being a vampire (Virtually any non-villain vampire in Buffy, and a few villain vampires, as well as the Anne Rice novels)...
I'm not seeing any original work here.

White Wolf? Now I'm pretty impressed with what you've been saying (VtM fan/GM) and was looking at these twilight things wondering whether the book's worth reading. I think I'll give Twi a miss.
Then I get this weird mental image of a Sparklepire taking on a Tzimisce (and getting rofl'd to death by the fiend) and laugh my ass off.

I haven't had the fortune of playing VtM, much less GMing the game, but I'm a fan of the complex system and history they set up. I must admit, though, that Malkavians are my favorite clan. I've always been partial to Madness masking Clarity.

You can probably find the series online and download them X3 - and the best bart of GMing is making your own universe for the players and yourself.
X3 Malkavians - my personal favourites are the Tzimisce; the whole genius/insanity debate can be played out pretty well. That and they can look like anything - bonus!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I don't have a problem with anyone who likes/enjoys Twilight. I just take issue with those who try to tell me it's Teh Best Story Evar, or even better, that I don't deserve an opinion.
Thanks. ^^

I love this! This explaines how much i dislike twilight! I was on vacation, and on the four times a rode on a plane, everyone was reading twilight, and i asked a few children on the plaine if thay liked it, and they said thay loved it, then i asked saome adults and over half said thay would rather read something more interesting. I am one of the kids that would perfer to read an intresting book, instead of twilight. -faves- thank you!

so true. I have so many people in my class reading it. When i say i dislike it, everyone gives me this glare that makes me want to crack up. I love it. Id rather read a book that isnt pretty cliched(cant spell it) with vampires. To tell you the truth, stuff like that has never interested me. Once my friend christine took me to the twilight movie. I wasnt a waste of money though, becaushe, we laughed and make fun of the movie the whole time. I love to make fun of it with my friends.

Of course we all have guilty pleasures! I admit to occasionally pulling one of my old Animorphs books off the shelf to give myself something to read for fifteen minutes. Of course, despite being a story directed at "kids", that series was well-structured, told an excellent story(until the end, anyway), and the characters were well-developed as individual creatures.
...I also use it to help direct my own teen-directed book-writing, to set pacing and whatnot.
Thanks for stepping forward as a Twilight fan, though. I know a lot of Twilight fans might feel intimidated about being mocked, but I do wanna make clear that I have no problem with the people who enjoy the book(series). Heck, we all enjoy a handsome vampire! :3 Why else were Anne Rice's books so popular?

There's so much she could have done with some of the characters, but it all gets sucked into the little love story >>
