Well, folks, I've FINALLY gotten around to doing this meme!
Because They're Interesting: Dr. Neo Cortex (Crash Bandicoot Franchise0 I've never been deep into video games, but I've always found Neo Cortex to be a really cool villain. I love his design, and believe me - on of these days I'm gonna watch a YouTube video about a playthough Crash games!
Because They're Wicked: Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) This dark fairy is the mistress of all evil for a reason. She is truly one of Disney's best villainesses, as she puts together an evil prophecy of Princess Aurora pricking her finger and dying before sunset on her sixteenth birthday. But luckily, the three good fairies revise the spell by making Aurora sleep instead of die, and then they rescue Prince Philip to fight Maleficent's evil spells before the sorceress herself turns into this really cool dragon!
Because They're Understandable: Mandark (Dexter's Laboratory) This guy is Dexter's rival who hates Dexter but loves Dee-Dee. I can totally relate; sometimes I hate someone, but then I like another person who is friends/related to the person I hate. Also, one more thing... don't ever call this guy by his real name - Susan.
Because They're Threatening: Percival McLeach (The Rescuers Down Under) This guy is my all-time, number-one favorite Disney villain for several reasons. 1. He speaks with gold; 2. He has no feeling for our protagonists; 3. He will stop at nothing to hunt down Marahute the eagle and make her his forbidden trophy. He is truly the best archetype of one of my biggest fears: a poacher.
Because of Their Motivations: William "Wild Bill" Wharton (The Green Mile) This maniac is on death row for various crimes all over the state of Louisiana, but I can't help but crack up when he does all these pranks on the guards (like peeing on Harry Terwilliger or spitting a half-eaten moonpie into Brutus Howell's face). Believe me, if I was condemned to die within a few weeks, I would go ahead and have some naughty fun, even if it meant I had to go in a straightjacket and sit in the restraining room for several hours. But then there's the truth about him... He was the one who REALLY raped and murdered those two girls John Coffey was framed for doing. I don't like that bit, but then again, I also can't help but cheer when Bill sexually harassed Percy Wetmore (more on him in the "I Despise This Villain" meme).
Because of Their Ideals: Mojo Jojo (The Powerpuff Girls) This Japanese chimp has always held a grudge against the titular little girls and their professor father-figure, so there's a good reason why he's just a bad guy. Mojo may be wicked, but he has some funny qualities, too. (like saying words with the same meaning in the same sentence, or getting stuck in sticky situations like that time he had to babysit the Powerpuff Girls)
Because of Subtext: Elle Driver (Kill Bill) Elle Driver is a former member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DiVAS) like Beatrix Kiddo, but she is definitely deadly like her "Black Mamba" counterpart. She murders Pai Mei by poisoning his fish heads, nearly kills Beatrix by injecting a lethal injection while Beatrix is still comatose, and tricks Budd into a bag full of cash with a deadly snake (a black mamba like Beatrix's old code name). I admire her evil deeds, but then I also have to cheer when Beatrix snatches her other eye out in Volume 2. PS: Let's also not forget that Elle got me hooked on the tune from "Twisted Nerve".
Because They're an Archetype: Lo Pan (Big Trouble in Little China) This guy is an evil Chinese sorcerer who seeks to find a girl with green eyes in order to restore his flesh and blood so he may rule the universe from beyond the grave. ("INDEED!") James Hong really played this wicked magician well (as well as his old man form, whose lines crack me up)!
Because They're Misunderstood: Professor Screweyes (We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story) While his brother, Captain Neweyes, centers his dreams on making children's wishes come true, the evil Professor Screweyes is more interested in scaring people, all because he was once afraid of monsters and the dark when he was a kid. Screweyes is truly an underrated gem, and I think he is misunderstood for being the black sheep of his family, which is probably why he turned to the dark side and became evil.
Because They're Mysterious: Him (The Powerpuff Girls) This demonic creature is so dark, mysterious, and evil that even I can't say his real name! (LOL I dunno even KNOW his real name) I've always foundΒ his demonic plots to destroy the Powerpuff Girls to be very mesmerizing (except for the time when he made the whole city of Townsville turn against the girls - that episode was VERY dark), and even though he's scary, I like how his voice can go from being high-pitched and inviting (like Tiny Tim) to deeper and darker.
Because They're Terrifying: Ursula (The Little Mermaid) I almost put Him in this spot, but then I remembered my true nightmare fuel from when I was a very little girl - this cecaelian based off of Glenn "Divine" Milstead. Nowadays, I think Urusula is an awesome villainess, but when I was 3-4-5 years old, I would NOT watch this movie because of her. Maybe it was her laugh? Maybe it was how she snatched Ariel off the wedding ship? Maybe it was when she took Triton's crown and became a giant monster? Maybe it was all three!
Because of Their Dedication: Thrax (Osmosis Jones) Another underrated villain from an underrated gem; Thrax is an evil virus who has a long, orange claw for a left index finger. I love Laurence Fishburne's voice acting as Thrax, and I love how this microscopic baddie stays to his plan to kill Frank in a quick amount of time and break his record of people he's killed.
Because of Their Performance: O-Ren Ishii (Kill Bill) As much as I like Lucy Liu's voice work as sweet-tempered Master Viper in Kung Fu Panda, I also like her devious and intimidating performance as O-Ren Ishii (aka Cottonmouth) in Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece. O-Ren also has a considerably sympathetic backstory that was told through an anime sequence in Volume 1; she lost her parents to a Yakuza team when she was just 9 years old, but then she got her revenge at 11, and by 20, she was a skilled assassin. She is also probably the only one of the Deadly Vipers that Beatrix Kiddo (the Bride) really trusted and got along with before breaking away. At the end of Volume 1, I was both satisfied and saddened when O-Ren was killed. (I'm pretty sure the Bride felt the same way)
Because They're a Subversion: Rancid Rabbit (CatDog) Who said all bunnies need to be lovable and cuddly? Not this rabbit! Rancid is a mad doctor who is probably the G-rated equivalent to the dentist from Little Shop of Horrors. But since he's a Nickelodeon villain, he has to crack me up, too!
Because They're Clever: Scar (The Lion King) You know what he said - "When it comes to brains, (he's) got the lion's share, but when it comes to brute strength, (he's) afraid (he's) at the shallow end of the gene pool." Indeed, this maniacally evil lion does live up to that quote; he does meticulous planning of Mufasa and Simba's deaths with his hyena minions (they succeed in killing Mufasa, though), tricks Simba into believing he killed Mufasa, and then lies to the entire pride that both Simba and Mufasa died so that he can be king. Another one of Disney's finest villains! (with a great performance by Jeremy Irons in 1994)
Because They're Devoted: Hades (Hercules) Another great Disney villain - and a funny one at that! A literal hot-head, Hades wants nothing more than to rule Mount Olympus and be top god. But instead, Zeus has the title, and there's been a prophecy that Hercules, Zeus's son, will defeat Hades when he turns 18. For the rest of the movie, Hades devotes his time trying to get rid of Hercules once and for all - the perfect qualities for a great villain! (just don't show him any Hercules merchandise or his domain will explode from his anger)
Because They're Hilarious: Mugatu (Zoolander) This is one of my favorite performances by Will Ferrell for a good reason: this maniac model wants to brainwash our heroes in order to get rid of the Malaysian prime minister, and he invented the piano key necktie! (Don't forget that foamy lattes make him farty and bloaty, so don't give him one!)
Because They're Charismatic: Devious Diesel (Thomas and Friends) Even though in some stories he's not bad, I really like the stories where he is just as his name suggests - devious. He is no stranger to spreading lies/false rumors, manipulating weaker engines, or just being a jerk in general. But overall, I think he is an awesome character!
Because They're Creative: Dean Vernon Wormer (National Lampoon's Animal House) As the dean of Faber College, there is nothing this guy hates more than the frat brothers of Delta Tau Chi. He comes up with the idea of "double secret probation" very cleverly with the Deltas' rival Greg Marmalard, and will stop at nothing to get rid of those drunken party animals once and for all! But little does poor Wormer (or anyone else) know of what kinds of schemes those Delta dummies have up their sleeves... Anyway, the dean is truly a cool villain who was portrayed by one of my favorite actors - John Vernon.
Because They're Sympathetic: Erik (The Phantom of the Opera) He is the titular "phantom" who falls in love with Christine Daae, a chorus girl-turned opera superstar. What follows is a terrifying but beautiful love triangle between Erik, Christine, and Raoul Vicomte-de-Changny, Christine's childhood friend. Yeah, I know the Phantom kills people to try and get Christine, but I can't help but sympathize with him when Christine goes off with Raoul in the end. (truly a tragic love story, and Gerard Butler is awesome as the Phantom)
Because They're Attractive: Pharaoh Rameses II (The Prince of Egypt) In terms of villain categories, this guys is my favorite under "good guys gone bad". Rameses and Moses start off as close-bonding brothers, but then when Moses finds out he is Hebrew and kills a slavedriver to stand up for a slave, he runs away and Rameses is saddened to see his brother leave. Years later, Moses returns, but only to free his people. Rameses, who is now Pharaoh, refuses to budge and free the Hebrews until after the last Plague (Death of the Firstborn). What makes Rameses such an awesome villain is how I think he is SO SEXY. (and how Ralph Fiennes gives him a great voice performance) And don't get me wrong - Moses (as a prince) is hot, too, but Rameses really earns a high spot in my fictional harem.
Because of Their Redemption: Discord (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) This dragonequues is a creature of chaos, and in the first few seasons of MLP, he made a lot of wrongdoings! I like him as both a villain and an anti-hero, especially when he is Fluttershy's tea party date. (Fluttercord FTW)
Because of Their Condemnation: Bill (Kill Bill) The head honcho of the Deadly Vipers who "overreacted" when Beatrix left and was pregnant with his child. I know that he's the one who killed off Beatrix's wedding party, and then shot the Bride in the head (leaving her in a 4-year-coma), but I gotta admire how intimidating yet mesmerizing he is. Also, his death at the end of Volume 2 is touching, because he makes peace with Beatrix before he dies from taking five steps after the five-point palm exploding heart technique Beatrix was taught by Pai Mei.
Because They Have Great Potential: Gogo Yubari (Kill Bill) This sadistic seventeen-year-old is O-Ren Ishii's personal bodyguard. I think she awesome, because of her skills with yielding a heavy spiked ball and chain, and she would've had great potential of graduating from bodyguard to assassin if Beatrix hadn't killed her. Believe me - if Beatrix took Gogo under wing instead of O-Ren, Gogo would've been unstoppable!
Because They're a Show-Stealer: The Predator (Predator (1987)) This movie has stayed with me since I was around 9. It's full of action, and it has an awesomely terrifying alien! (whenever I watched the movie, it was always the TV-edited edition with many of the bad words censored/edited) Anyway, the Predator is such an awesome villain, because of its ability to turn invisible and attack without being seen, its motivations of being a trophy hunter, and how he beats up Arnold Shwarzenegger towards the end before literally going away with a bang!
They Play Off The Heroes Well: Yzma (The Emperor's New Groove) She is another underrated Disney villainess - she cracks me up with her facial expressions, she has diabolical motivations to get rid of Emperor Kuzco, and she really plays our protagonist off well! Also, kudos to the late Eartha Kitt for winning two Emmy Awards for voicing Yzma in the spin-off series, The Emperor's New School!
Because They Feel Human: Joe the Pilot Fish (Help! I'm a Fish) As I wrote a fanfic based on this movie, I loved how Joe (literally) felt human after drinking Professor MacKrill's antidote. (but if you're a fish underwater, and you drink too much, you will totally become human and drown) I also loved how Alan Rickman (Professor Snape from Harry Potter) gave him such a wicked voice!
Because They're Oddly Adorable: Rumpelstiltskin (Shrek Forever After) Say what you want about this movie, but I LOVE Rumpel! I think he is so adorable with his expressions, his ideas, and his words! But one thing is clear - DON'T EVER MAKE A DEAL WITH HIM IF YOU DON'T WANNA RISK DISAPPEARING FOREVER.
Because of Their Haters: Hans (Frozen) I know Hans is a mean jerk in the end, but I have to admit that he is kinda cute, and sometimes I do like "plot twist" villains nobody sees coming. (btw, Pixar has a TON of them if anyone's interested)
Because They're Underrated: Brer Fox and Brer Bear (Song of the South) I don't care what anyone says about this movie (I've never thought of it as racist, btw); these two villainous critters are awesome, and they (along with Brer Rabbit) deserve more love! (They're funny, too!)
Because They Have Nostalgic Value: The Toon Patrol Weasels (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) Gosh, I can't believe it was nearly ten years ago when I got hooked/interested in the Toon Patrol, and I decided to join a ProBoards site about them! But these guys are so cool, and they got me into writing fanfictions/parodies, and making OCs to share with friends.
Because They Speak Gold: Sheldon J. Plankton (Spongebob Squarepants) Everything this little guy says is a hoot! "Good grief, he's naked!" "I went to college!" For many years, he has been longing to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula in order to put Mr. Krabs and his restaurant to shame. But then, Spongebob was employed, and now he and Plankton have sort of a love-hate relationship. Even now, when Mr. Krabs has turned into a total jerk these days, Plankton is still a great villain of this beloved Nickelodeon series. ^^
Because of Their Impact: The Velociraptors (Jurassic Park) When I was a little girl, I was gaga over dinosaurs. And of course, Jurassic Park and its sequels were huge impacts on my childhood. The diabolical raptors who escape from their pen in the last half of the first movie hunt down our human heroes, but then the T-Rex comes and saves the day at the end! The raptors and the other dinosaurs made me even more interested in dinos - that's all I can say.
Because They Influenced Me: Mr. Burns (The Simpsons) This guy's my favorite Simpsons character for a reason - his "excellence" at being a millionaire, his uses of funny phrases (like "fiddlesticks"), and his diabolical plots whenever an episode calls for a villain. I've loved him ever since I was 13 or 14!
BECAUSE I DO: Hotep and Huy (The Prince of Egypt) These guys are just awesome, and they deserve more love! They're voiced by two of my favorite actors (Steve Martin and Martin Short, respectively), they have an awesome song, and... well, I just love 'em and can NEVER get enough of them!

All these characters belong to their respective owners. I own nothing!
The list of hated villains is coming soon!
