Description
Here you have one of many charts I am making with as much information on the different genetics as I can possibly fit. I love genetics and colors, and I know a lot of you do, too. I'm sure not all of my information is 100% correct but this is the most recent stuff I've found. I've kept it simplified. If you guys have anything to add, or notice a mistake, go ahead and let me know!
But was also gracious enough to let me use it for my project! Go check out her gallery, because this person is awesome!!!

They are the same, I'm afraid.

I have never heard of the agouti gene affecting the shade of the chestnut horse - do you have any sources on this? (I'm sure there is a genetic control for the darkness of the red hairs but I highly doubt that it's caused by agouti)

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've replied, it's been years since I've had access to internet on a computer. I remember reading it somewhere as a theory, I'm not 100% sure where. I wish I could remember. I'll look for my old sources and if I find them I'll provide a link.

My horse judging teacher taught that a sorrel has lighter under side as well

yes, that is something I've seen as well, but not all the time. I wonder if that has anything to do with pangare?

Something I have caught onto is that some chestnuts have a base of a brown tail, but as it goes down the tailbone, the hairs start coming out black. A personal theory is that this may be caused by Agouti, not sure if I am right but its just a theory I'd like to test for when I get a chance(since I have 3 chestnuts/sorrels. My paint gelding is almost flaxen at the bottom and my other two QHs have dark tips).

that is so true. My mare has a mixture of black, chestnut, and flaxen hairs in her tail. I'd love to look into more why some chestnuts have black tails.

We should totally start searching for the answer and then making a "What causes what" type chart.

I've been trying to make a chart like that for over a month and have been having trouble figuring out how to go about it.

Maybe make it like a graph? First row be "average", next row be "single cream", then next row "double cream" and then do duns, champagnes, pearls[with cream gene], sooty, silver, flaxen and then do the more than one genes, with maybe sooty + flaxen + cream, or cream + dun.
