Description
This was done as a scene concept for the opening of Aurora Borealis.

Just at the same time as I did the previous studies the first ecology bundle was released for HowieFarkes Ultrascenery System.

It occured to me that I have to add that the fir trees are from , not from the ultrascenery set.

I had this system already iin my sights, but with the new add-on I had to try it out.
I think this is really a game-changer for DAZ-Studio, providing the means to create excellent landscape settings.

HowieFarkes did the Harpwood-Trail series of sets, but this is a huge improvement.

While there are still a couple of fixed presets, the scattering and height map can be created from seeds and modified in a lot of ways to fit different ecologies.
With the new addon, you have meadows, lakes, dirt roads, rivers, coastlines, islands and forests, with several types of deciduous trees, including a desert setting.
Even a bronze age kind of ringwall fortress is included. The areas are 64x64 m and I used three for the above setup.
The landscape generation takes some time, depending on your system, some minutes certainly.

The systems uses a very high amoung of instancing (the scenes shown easily exceeding 250.000 instances) but it is VERY well optimized.
You have a decent non-Iray preview (and you are advised not to use the iray preview due to the possibility of crashing the client).
What stunned me, was the super small amount of resources used in the final render for such a scenery! Even with three sets, it rendered decently fast.

Don't be fooled - you still need a fairly powerful system to this, but this would go for any other similar landscape setup in DAZ. But it's really smooth.

For it's possibilities and quality it's decently priced, though you might still want to pick it up at a sale, especially in combination with the ecology bundle.

I'm really looking forward to more ecology add-ons.
