Revisited this in a diff style- I think it will work out better for long term wear... plus I like things to match.Coloring is meant to be kindof a generic mishmash of whitetail and mule deer.
And Makeup this time!Had some new Mehron Liquid makeup I wanted to try- worked out well enough.
- This is the last of the obsessing on deer for the time being. Just had to let it run its course. Its the noses. I like the noses.

Seeing it all put together actually makes it look rather amazing. Usually when I see that type of 'top jaw only' mask it looks more, well, like a goofy puppet head mask. The earth tone colors, blending and the change in color on the brow ridge along with using your own hair helps to sell the look.

You could say I have a slight deer bias, but this and the piebald doe are absolutely amazing work.

Not only is the mask absolutely stunning (and I'm guessing hard to see out of), but the way you have your hair falling over the ears is just really beautiful.

The mask is done great technically but anatomically it doesn't really seems to be a doe. Not at all. More like a cougar?

Ah, also- I just noticed you are also from the UK- European deer do not have the same nose-markings as North American deer, wich may also be part of where the disconnect may be for ya : )

-Its deer plus human anatomy choices with more human leanings in the structure than deer as a matter of both choice and long term wear practicality in order to keep it flush to the gace but also keep everything unobstructed. So yes, the result ends up echoing feline ideas by largely virtue of muzzle length, peoples familiarity with the face shape being typical for cat costumes (and that they, have forward faveing eyes, mlike us ), and given the mule and whitetaile deer have some color markings reminiscent of cougars, primarily with the nose marks.

Naw its cool- pretty much the issue with trying to translate ungulates into masks for people , and makeig the costume pieace as small and unobtrusive as possible, is how so very different their heads and eyes are, so the best I can do is emphasize color (in this case a combo of mule and white tail) and do the best I can with the nose and ear shape -The combination of factors does look a bit feline, but thems the breaks for this design type since it sacrifices opportunity for species clarity inf avor of long term comfort and unonstructed everything.

yeah that makes sense, ungulate eyes aren't really in a good position to use in masks where people need to see out of them!Β
I looked up the deer, thanks for telling me the species, we don't have either of those where I am. Muntjac, Roe and Fallow deer here (Red deer a bit further north).Β

they do have adorable noses, so soft and velvety.Β But they're wet tooΒ >xDΒ The masks look so much better with humans eyes in them
