Description Uh... working title.

So basically this is concept art for a dragon mask (hopefully Mask-s... plural) that will have the base, and then that will be able to be customized, person picks the ears and horns, spikes, whatever... fur can happen also as an accent. Still working things for the neck, I want to keep it VERY VERY simple. Umm so yeah, concept concept. More to be posted as I go along, first mask projected to be finished by the end of august.

Will be done in a cast fiberglass resin or other suitable pouring-plastic. Moveing jaws, use your own eyes annnd either taxidermy or cast-in teeth, having figured that out yet...but I will. Will either have a balaclava attatched or will come WITH a balaclava.... still working that out.

Um, overall, Id like to treat this as an art project, so if you'd like one, please be willing to give me some creative freedom, no nit-picking. You will get something fabulous and well made, I promise. Im doing a run of no more than 20. Maximum. Ever.

Hmmm must have missed this before. It has me thinking on how to get my character to work with this. As I would really love a mask from you.

Cool stuff. Things have changed a bit since this original concept art, I wont be molding and casting horns but instead hand-sculpting each set from lightweight materials, on one hand, longer production time, on the other hand MUCH more creative avility and customization.

Cool! Well I will have my sketch done tomorrow that is to the head design base to show you. I was thinking of using my own hair for the mask and not sure about the neck. But face paint is looking like it would work rather then a fabric neck covering.

Heh, you should see my last post on my art LJ. Im deeefinatly not doig anymore fabric necks for these dragons. They're just too difficult and dont look as sharp as I would like and I am reccomending people just body-paint-it-up so its good that you're already thinkin that way. Besides, it makes the masks a bit cheaper when they dont have parts to them that make me want to drink the coolaid if ya catch me x_x. The one I am doing for myself, Ill do an example of bodypaint to go with it.

I may offer manes or synthetic dreads out of fake hair or yard or something tho...

I dongive quotes in public but if you would like to email me we can talk about it. Complexity of color and horns is a pretty much the bulk of it.

Okay I will send you a email. The horns are pretty simple and the color is pretty solid in color.

Ohh Amazing concepts!
And nice examples of the bases, If I do get to have one of these from you I'll certainly love to have you just do what you like on mine XD.

I'm sure certain bases will cost more than others?

This sounds amazing. For a more eastern look you could even make the neck mostly mane-like (all fur). I think it would be an interesting contrast between the hard scales and fluffy fur. I've seen something similar done and really liked it for whatever reason. Just my 2 cents.

Ooooh, sounds like a great idea! I like the ideas you've got going so far. I started making a cast for customizable basic canine faces out of light plastic, but I gave up halfway

For the necks, maybe you could try what I'm doing. I'm working on a dragon mask for this fall's Renaissance Faire. I'm just going to use a light fabric like cotton, painting scales and scutes on it, then simply attaching the cloth to the bottom of the mask and have the cloth tuck into my shirt. Of course, I'm going to be wearing a hood, so the back of my neck won't be showing. It's something that a lot of stage performers do for large animal costumes, so I figured, heck, why not!?

This sounds like an excellent idea!
I'd actually really like to give you a basic concept of the dragon face I'm looking for and let you be as creative as you want with it.

Do let me know when you're open for commissions/estimates on these ^_^
