Did you blend in Sai? If so, what brush did you use? I'm having trouble with finding a brush that will blend smoothly.
Also, was the first draft made on one layer or more?

I did my rendering in Sai and just use small variants of the default brush tool,(not very different though i don't think) often changing whether the size was pressure sensitive or not, to help get smoother colors where i wanted them
The Original draft was a rough grey scale drawing done in photoshop and overlaying the colors. I don't quite remember but during this stage if one overlay layer doesn't do the job I sometimes mess with getting the colors i want by adjusting layers and using other layer effects before i go on to rendering.
