Hey, everyone! Here I am once again!
This here is my part of an art trade done with ScribblesAllDay , their beautiful bab, Alexander! (Xander).
As is becoming usual for me, I got a song here to go with the bab. The bio I read for him was sad, but still showed he resisted a lot, and this song altho the one singing admit to their weaknesses and troubles, there is such an upbeat and hopeful tone to it, so! Stay strong, Xander!
I also wrote "Amor" on his chuck's circles, because on the drawing with the bio, it's written on his shirt. As a portuguese native speaker, I was imediately drawn to it, of course, and tagging a character with such a rought background to such a sweet word makes me smile.
Amor means love btw you guys
Also, the flowers here are fennel flowers, and they represent strenght.

I went a bit further with lighting and shading this time, trying different things. I think... I think I pretty much like the end result! I tried to make the fennel flowers also resemble clouds a bit, and I think that looks fine... Let me know what you guys think!

Hi! i'm here from ProjectComment , and I have to say I like this piece! The overall pose and color palette complement the melancholic yet optimistic theme mentioned in your description. And while the background does match the overall tone, I feel it somewhat weakens the pose by drawing attention away from it. In my opinion, just the flowers and stalks cropped to the same rectangle - i.e. no brown background, would be better as the brown competes with the color scheme of your character.
With regards to the character, the slightly raised right foot gives a sense of movement/tension while the rest of the pose is one of a person at rest - again tying in very nicely with your description! One thing about his jeans though - I'm not sure if the jeans are ripped or if he was cut recently? Because if it's the former, jeans don't typically have rip patterns with such even spacing; making the spacing more random, or centered around the knees would look more natural. This version is also better than the one with flat colors; I like the greenish shadow tint. The text on the sneakers is a nice touch, but a little too small, I'd not be able to read it without you mentioning. In these cases, maybe consider using icons to represent the words? In this case, a heart shape might substitute the text while remaining readable.

I agree with you in almost everything, dude! Just the ripped pants "pattern", it's okay to look like that. There are a lot of different ripped pants out there and I've seen quite a few be uniform. Also, the text in his chucks couldn't be a symbol because of the language, and it's more of a bonus detailed for me and the owner than anything else.
Besides that, thank you very much for the background suggestion! I think with this especific flower it would look a bit weird because they're so cloudy, but I'll definitely keep it in mind! Thank you for commenting!

Overall, looks like a good piece, nice composition with a good pose. One of the things that you could work on is the threads for the jeans; it is a very distinct look with a lot of threads working together to make a very nice texture that stands out from the color of the pants, so nailing it is understandably difficult, though one of the things that got in the way is the skin color. It is hard to see the threads you drew when the skin is so pale, which can be remedied by using light blue grey threads, or simply playing with the skin tone. This is just to lay down the foundation though, so consider adding some dark shades to give it some shading on those small threads; also, give them more of a curve to contour to the legs. The scaling of the feet needs adjustment, with the characters right foot looking more bloated in comparison to the flatness of the left foot, so tweaking that would be nice. You have a similar situation with the characters forearms, though not as severe or noticeable. Still, good work on this one, hopefully you use this to improve upon your next piece~
