Omg after 2 full daysHere's the tutorial on how I colour my eyes! I hope you guys find it useful ;u; I failed so badly for my GIF tutorial, since I spent only like, an hour doing it. I spent 2 days on this so be grateful ;A;
Please read AND look at the pictures to fully understand this! >u<
Note that everyone has a different style, you don't have to copy my way of colouring them ;u;

Wouldn't using several layers be better since you can change some layers if you don't like the end-result (and too many actions have occurred to Ctrl+Z)? Just one thing I've been annoyed by while doing eyes.

I always see different, cooler/cuter eyes when I watch anime/view cover illustrations/etc. so my style isn't static, it's kind of hundreds of styles put in one.
Recently, I've really been interested in Accel World's Chiyuri Kurashima's eyes. The use of a dark shade of the iris colour for the surrounding cornea (instead of default black) gives a good effect in my opinion. They still use the doubleΒ light and darkΒ 'U' though, which I've honestly loved since it first started appearing around 2005.

Ooooh the eye style is quite unique *u* I really love the shinyness in Chitanda's eyes from Hyouka;Β 1-media-cdn.foolz.us/ffuuka/boβ¦
That was probably the reason why I started to make my eyes so much more shiny xD

Yeah I started out with a style similar to yours which I found in a eye tutorial, except it used light shades of the iris colour instead of the snowy-white. I once read a guide which explained lighting, and that everything in the vicinity of reflected, or in the path of refracted light would have a tinge of that colour added to it. While the eye's moisture doesn't seem to reflect different coloured light, I just find that having a slight hint of colour in the shiny parts makes it look shinier and either cuter or interesting (I can't tell since it's always female characters with these kinds of eyes, and they're already cute) o(*οΎβ½οΎ*)o
