Description The ears are back! Yay! And they brought Colin Morgan (Merlin) with them!

I like this portrait better than the last one because you can actually see (more or less) who it's supposed to be on the thumbnail. Also, I stayed away from excessive amounts of brown in his face, so he doesn't look so gritty and dirty.

Anyway, enjoy, because now that I've got classes again I might have to revert to my previous policy of gross neglect of DA. At least until I've finished my bachelor project

"Merlin" is Β©the BBC and Colin Morgan is fun to paint!

And...in a watercolour ! (-->seems so difficult to me! )
You're sooo talented!! All the awards and confetti of the world for you :3
Keep on the amazing work!!!!! (:

Ah. A Merlin fan, I take it? Or perhaps a Colin Morgan's Ears Appreciator?
I really like watercolour. Before I got my tablet, it was either that, coloured pencils (and I'm no good with those at all) or acrylics (which are not my strong suit, either) if I wanted to colour something.
But the times I've nearly dipped my paintbrush in my coffee or almost taken a sip from the brown, dirty water... artists live a dangerous life, right?

Thank you very much for those two amazingly sweet comments. It's so nice to know that people like what I do. It feels like a hug from the internet.
And thank you for watching me, too. Have a llama.

I'm a Colin Morgan-in-his-entire-wholeness Appreciator ;D (and also a Merthur shipper, but more of a Colin Admirer though ^^)
It was very kind of you to give me an outlook of your experience as a drawer&painter ^^ I've tried pencils, pens, oil and watercolour, and I felt that watercolour was quite difficult, because you just can't repair any error, or maybe with an absorbing paper, but well, it was a great experience at the same time ^^ But I should practise a lot, I'm so bad at it XD
haha!! I deeply agree, art is not an easy task at all, being an artist is perilous ! it's like being a super hero of the paintbrush

then, another hug for you ^^ you entirely deserve it!!! never think the contrary

and thanks again for the

Oh, me too. I do especially like his ears, though. They're just precious!

Well, with watercolour, so much depends on the paper. The heavier the paper, the better the quality. I usually go for the heavier quality, and I really like the hot pressed kind, because it allows for corrections much more than cold pressed paper does. And with light paper, you'll be lucky if the paper doesn't start to fluff and clump together if you try to make corrections.

Well, practice makes perfect. Which reminds me that I really should draw some more. I haven't done any art in ages and I miss it.

We are superheroes! Ooh! Dibs on Superman! He can fly!

Aww. You're just trying to drown me in happy tears, aren't you?

His ears, a wonder :3 I think I'm infatuated, completely infatuated, so any parts of him is like a wonder anyway! ^^
Eyes, nose, lips...ok I need to stop or I will never recover...(what if I don't want to recover...XD)

Oh yes, I completely agree with "The heavier the paper, the better the quality." It was so tough when I tried to paint with watercolour on thin 'Canson' paper -_-' tedious!

Do art do art!!! \o/ I'll be among the first ones to be like a cheerleader *\O/* lol

Superwomen indeed! ;D

Yes, that's totally what I'm attempting to do, glad it could work ;D

Heh. And his cheekbones! You could cut yourself on those!

Oh my. I will try. I've finally sat my last exam for the semester, so I should have a little more time to draw and paint now. A cheerleader? I suddenly feel like a sports team.

Help help! I need a lifejacket for this sort of thing!

I am indeed. Now to decide which kind of sport.. I know! QUIDDITCH!

Not my division. I asked for a lifejacket.

Thank you very much, I'm really flattered.
Don't worry about it, though. It's an annoying, but also comforting, fact that with practice makes perfect, so if you continue, you'll always improve. You just need to have patience.
I love your icon, by the way! It's totally awesome!

Aaaaaaaaaaaah!
You're off the scale now!
Just.. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Oh, when Sherlock comes back on, we shall fangirl like nobody's business.
I cannot believe they left us on that cliffhanger. I mean, please people!
It won't be long till we get some more Doctor Who, right? Right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Masrika In reply to Maitia [2011-03-22 22:11:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh we shall. There shall be poems and songs about our fangirliness.
I know! I mean I have love for Moriarty 'cause he's amazing, but the cliffhanger was far too much.
Doctor who is back at Easter , but they're splitting it this time round. so wer get half now and half in the autumn, which means they'll do a cliffhanger, because they're evil like that. (Moffat, the guy who runs dr who, helped write Sherlock, so there is a precedent). I shall not be impressed though. (by the cliffhanger I mean, I'll be very much in love with Dr Who)

And they shall call it The Time Of The Squee. And they saw that it was good.

Yeah. Moriarty is definitely awesome. I love his voice and his Irish accent.
But Moffat you devil, you! You're killing us with these cliffhangers!

Yes. I did the lineart in pencil and the rest is watercolour. Oh, and there's a coffee stain too.
I'll never drink and paint again. The amount of times I nearly dipped the brush in my coffee or took a sip from the dirty water.... Geez. Never again.

Beautiful! I only wish I could paint like this, it looks so tender, yet somehow edgy. I don't quite know how that works, but it does, so good on you!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Maitia In reply to siniart [2009-12-29 17:20:48 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for the praise.
I don't think I've ever heard it described as tender, yet edgy, but it sounds flattering so thanks. If by how it works you mean my technique/materials, it's simply pencil and watercolour on watercolour paper. If not, I'm just being stupid.
Anyway, thanks

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

siniart In reply to Maitia [2009-12-30 07:09:37 +0000 UTC]

I was vaguely refering to not being able to understand how it can indeed look tender, but edgy, how that concept would work, but I was unclear, sorry And by that I meant that the way you painted it, it looks very soft, but the yeys have a bit of fire to them, I think. In any case, it's wonderful!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Maitia In reply to siniart [2009-12-30 19:28:27 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow, thanks so much! I just though it was about technique, there's no need to apologize for anything. It's brilliant having your painting described as soft, but also firy, so thank you very much.
Here, have a hug
