Careful, Sokka, if Toph could see the look on your face she'd totally fall for you. Oh, wait...Teaching Toph how to throw a boomerang? It's nonsensical and has been done, BUT I DON'T CARE.

Actually, since the Boomerang is metal and the target they're aiming for is probably connected to the ground, I don't think this is as nonsensical an idea as it might seem at first.
That said, if I were Sokka here, I'd be wearing steel-toed boots.

Even if Toph could theoretically hit someone with it (and there's no denying that she can) I'm not sure she'd be as good at retrieving it.
