I didn't start feeling guilty until I was putting the finishing touches on Toph's stricken eyes.This is sort of concept art for a story idea of mine, and ohhh man am I proud of this! Maybe it's just painting easy peasy snow or using a bunch of my favorite color or maybe it's the drama, but the process went by with uncanny smoothness. I would have put even more love into it if I hadn't started so late. Even if I never get to tell that story I think this one is a story all its own. ^_^

Really nice use of colors. The whole thing is just various shades of blue and white (aside from the blood, which even in its small quantities stands out vividly), but it's so vivid, and everything is very clearly rendered, even at the small size at which dA defaulted this for me.

* = That line was from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. I felt that it was right for this scene. Can't wait to read your story.
