Description
Well most Trek fans will know the Daedalus class, the predecessor in many ways to the famed Constitution class. In the Romulan War books and the Daedalus two part books, it explains that the Daedalus is an older design pre-dating the NX by at least a decade. A design that was in fact a competitor to the NX Project that Trip himself worked on and was an utter failure. I liked the idea as it explained the more basic design of the class as being a older design than the NX. So in the Coalition War project I ran with the idea and it has worked out well for me.
