Description First, a moment of remembrance for the original "painting 4". It was tragically lost yesterday when... well I don't really know why or how it happened, but its .psd is blank white and no recovery utility has brought it back. But I'm not too upset - I got practice out of it even if I've lost the end product, and that's what I truly care about. Still, it stings. I've never lost data. Ever. I back up like a maniac and am always so careful. Anyway...

I started this one shortly after giving up on the previous one. I tried a new style this time - my challenge here was to use only the harder photoshop brush (and not my beloved opacity-fade w/ pressure brush). It looks very loose and rough compared to my previous work, but I like it. It feels unfinished to me, me who usually polishes stuff for eternity, and I think that's some of the beauty of it.

I'm pretty sure I commented on one of your other David Cook paintings (they're all fantastic, by the way), but really, this one is just extra-impressive. Many folks shy away from pure-white lighting, even when it's displayed in a reference photo, but you embraced it and it's definitely a better image for it. Great work!

I don't know / remember the man, but the rough is very well done ! I think that the one of these you did who looks like the more "alive", maybe because of his eyes, or the light-game, I don't know. Great job anyway

Thank you! He's on American Idol this season, and he made it to the final 2 (winner to be decided this week).

I love this. It's so alive and immediate. I think you should do more in this style.
