Regardless, M'ha-e's answer isn't as glib as it sounds. Immortal creatures living at the bottom of the sea, Deep Ones tend to fall into two basic types: sedentary, who steadily accumulate blubber as the centuries pass, and active, who keep their physiques toned.

It's really easy to tell yourself, "Oh, I'll start working out and get back into shape in a century or two," and then just go to pot, so most of them are chubby instead of sleek.

It's the ones who are active and tend to swim and run carrying heavy gear that stay in really good shape.
