Original Fallout Equestria is a little over 607 thousand words. Project Horizons was over 1.1 million words at chapter 55. The most recent chapter released was 61 and the story still isn't finished. A month is by no means an exaggeration. But it's amazingly written and I've enjoyed it more than the original.
