Description
Here's a pic of Demitri I made for Udon's Darkstalkers tribute contest! I didn't get in, but that's alright because the people who got chosen probably deserve it a lot more than I do. There's no background, I know. Please don't get on my case about that because I'm already pretty hard on myself about a lot of things in this picture. On a side note, the difference in colors on my cintiq and lcd monitor are driving me INSANE. I'm no expert when it comes to dealing with monitors and calibration, so I really don't know how to deal with this. When I work on my cintiq, everything is fine, but as soon as I bring the pic over to my monitor it can look drastically different. In short, the colors on this pic are not how I originally intended it to be. I tried to do some color correction on it, but it still doesn't have the same rich and contrasty look of the original. Makes me want to cry. T__T And now I will stop talking out of my ass.

You really shouldn't beat up yourself over this. I would have thought it would be a shoe in for any competition. In fact I was wondering if you were a professional artist working for capcom. Sure the colours are a little off but that's perfectly fine since most people colour correct automatically in their heads. The anatomy and style are what's important and you nailed it.Β

I'd like him more if his pants were baggy cuz they look tight as hell.

He wears the typical night clothes of 18th century noblemen , those were tight as hell . It seems when Demitri awoke in the 20th century he refused to update his fashion .

Yeah your right there heh. Wait doesn't Darkstalkers take place in the 90's?

Yeah , that's why I said that Demitri awoke in the 20th century . He slept for more than a century and awoke just when the first game starts.

Oh ok just making sure. For a moment I thought the 90's were the the start of the 21st century, silly me. When I saw the anime it got me confused because of the environment and how most of the people dress. When I was just getting into the franchise I thought the anime was a good start cuz I didn't have the games (that is until I found out I had emulators of DS on my modded x-box). The humans in the anime dressed mostly in old fashion and junk like that.

Yeah , that's one of the biggest problems following Darkstalkers background , is not even clear on what age they live regarding the Dates .
In the games Pyron revealed himself over the earth on 1991 , so it is sure that it takes place in the 90's .
Many places still have an archaic looking , I think it is supossed to be because of the influence of the Makai realmΒ that is a Medieval style society since its based on Magic instead of Technology , but the overall human world society is in the regular 90'sΒ as you can see on DS1 Felicia's stage andΒ Darstalkers-3 London stage that are both Modern citiesΒ .
Another incoherency of the OVas is that shows everyone displacing on Horse carriages , when on Talbain's DS1 stage you can clearly see Cars in the background . It also shows people using archaic pistols and muskets , when on the games you see BBHood using modern Guns like Uzi , shotguns and rocket launchers .
And the list of things that are Unsure on the franchise goes on and on.....

Yeah and gets on my nerves a little. They should of either made it clear or do some adjustments or else its just a cluster fuck of nonsense.

Don't know if it's because of the lack of background but it's the first thing that caught my eyes in your gallery and I'm liking it.

this is a beautiful peice man. In the book or not, I know the effort you put in it and it's very polished and full of your style which is what I like about it. Man, and you are still crazy when it comes to painting muscles. 0_0
Don't let him get near you, he'll turn you into a woman.
