made using This kit Also my apologies to for not realizing that the kit was his ^.^;Well here's my rendition of the Orange Islands/Archipelago region i used the large map image from bulbapedia to get the basic shape of the islands down and the landmarks as reference for the different details. Overall this took about 3 days to make and it's the first spriting job I have EVER had to use gimp on. I sectioned off the map into 6 parts for my game, and have thought up some different ways for the character to travel around. This is going to be one of the secondary regions the players can explore along with the pokemon ranger regions. This will be explorable after completing one of the kanto or johto story lines and will be between the 2. I have also finished my version of the Hoen Region map in this same style and will be uploading it shortly. I will also be redoing the Kanto and Johto maps mainly because they seem to be an odd shape for pokemon essentials.

I think the icons for your towns are a bit dark, and maybe you could try to add some more diverse terrain, with some brown for the mountains instead of just having the flat green everywhere.

no problem but I don't see my self redownloading it, but thanks again for letting me use it, and sorry again for the mix up. Also as for your comment on about the flat green I have 1 simple reason why, it's because the Islands are flat in those areas. As strange as it may seem I've done my research and plan on making this as true to the regions as possible :3

lol those are areas that have higher elevations. and if you look closely you can see where the color gos up gradually, though if I may give 1 tip for your kit maybe make some smaller mountains than the ones in there? The ones you have now completely cover the higher elevation marks that I had put there. I used this as the reference for the island shapes, and for the height map, and this page to reference the locations, details and most importantly the route layout ^.^

If they have higher elevations, shouldn't they be brown like mountains? <_<
And I don't understand what you mean about smaller mountains. Do you mean icons?

Yeah the icons, but as for the higher elevations the mountain icons you made cover most of the marks I had made, except for small patches of the dark green that show the next stage up from the flat green ^.^;

You could afford to make the brown areas a little bigger, though, surely. You're allowed to slightly exaggerate them. I mean Pewter City isn't in a mountain, but it's drawn that way on the maps in HGSS.

Those are ripped from HGSS so feel free; it's the ship, volcano, tower and ruins that are custom.

For sticklers like me that are obsessed about accuracy. XD I know it's a weird thing to have someone do but if you see them used in a map or 2 you might notice how much better the maps actually look ^.^

I prefer to try to keep to the style as much as possible, and I don't think the big icons look bad or out of place, but yes, post some examples and I'll see what I think.

You've actually used the small ones on both. I don't think it looks better, however, as I think you're overusing the icons in the first place. They're meant to mark important features or locations, not to highlight every single piece of slightly high terrain.
However, that's a stylistic choice, so if you prefer it with lots of icons, that's up to you, and the smaller ones seem to work better for that, but I'll stick to using a few less.
I still think the blue you're using for towns is too dark.
