After going over some old stories, the Volsunga Saga struck me as a large point of interest. With the release of Skyrim and the great amount of coverage it's received before and after the fact, people seem to be interested in the one-sided fights of yore between man and something awful; in this case, dragons.

Here, Sigurd stands with the reforged and bloodied Gram, taking his fight to Fafnir's lair. With the dwarf-turned-dragon mortally wounded, the hoard is his. The dragon's blood grants him the power to understand the songs of Odin's birds, and one little bird in particular is bringing ominous portents of treachery on the horizon.

Fair warning, there's a lot of detail in it and the image itself is pretty big (7k x 10x) so Fullscreen at your own peril.
