Description
Hey look, typography!I thought I'd try to expand my design repetoire a bit by using type and framing and stuff. "Le Dolce Vita" was the first MP3 I came across that I liked, so that's why it says that.
Hope this is random enough for ya.

Damn, the coloring on this is flawless. The Rescue Rangers takes me way back, it had one of the theme songs.

That it did, I only wish modern TV shows had theme songs as good.

Gadget is one of my favorite characters... it's so nice to see fan art of her that is truly art <3
You did a beautiful job on this, not just the take on the characters, but also the boldness of the graphic design!

Since the calendar has grown over the years to now average about 10 pages, we eat up memory space very quickly and have to keep adding new sites. Not that I'm complaining!

I just rediscovered Ducktales on Toon Disney. They don't always air the old shows, so I want to catch it while I can. Nice work. Sassy.

Thank you very much. It seemed right to give her a red undershirt, although it was probably white in the cartoon. I like how red works against purple.

Yup. When all the men, women, and children are sent off to fight Nazis, we must rely on house vermin to stand up and uphold America's industry and commerce. Wow, that would be a funny and ridiculous story!

Oh, Gadget. A childhood hero <3
Mm, your work is starting to have a real "videogame" aesthetic (the slick, 3D colouring + outlines, I guess ) I think it's quite interesting; it's not something that's seen a lot, and it's quite beautiful. It has this awesome visual effect where it's both modelled and shaped (by the colouring) and then flattened by the lines... and it's therefore is fun to stare at it.
It looks particularly neat when done of cartoon characters
Great job

If you're not already familiar with him, you might be interested in the work of Alphonse Mucha. A great deal of his work is done like this, except he does a lot more with the decorative linework he weaves around his realistic and semi-realistic characters. It's impossible to over-exaggerate the influence his work has on current art, particularly comic and manga art.

Wow... his work is gorgeous. Thanks for pointing him out to me
His work does have a very graphic novel aesthetic to it, though.

She's from Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, came on around '87 or '88 I suspect. So's that pair of yellow eyes above her, they belong to their fly friend Zipper.
I remember being very disappointed as a kid whenever some talkshow host said they were going to have Chip 'n' Dale on their show, and it ended up being the Chippendale Dancers. Very very disappointed.

Yeah, she may well have had one, but I was already uncomfortable endowing her as much as I did. I didn't want this to become some kinda furry thing, which admittedly it already sorta has. But thanks a lot for the comps!

mallaard In reply to lex-g [2007-01-31 00:04:05 +0000 UTC]
I guess you'd have to blame Disney for that. There would have been others had Disney not made it so big though. Did you know Betty Boop was originally a dog woman? They replaced her ears and black nose with human features a couple years after creating her. And of course there were the underground comix artists like R. Crumb drawing cat people having sex and whatnot. I thik it was destined to happen no matter how you look at it.

Yep yep. I used your drawing of her as my main reference. It was perfectly on-model, and also the biggest and cleanest image on the entire internet of her. I can't believe it's so hard to find decent reference for some of these characters. But at least Coke bottles are easy to find .
