Argh, dammit, I hate the idea of adopts, and I REALLY HATE 'closed species', as unless you show me a legal copyright, I call bull. But her looks, and an idea I have from it fits so nicely into an idea for a story I have right now. I'd be one paying with points, though. So, how much has the bidding gotten up to so far?
In fact, I'm half tempted just to drop an autobuy on this...

Well, as I said, I REALLY don't like the idea of closed species, unless you've got some kind of legal documentation to back up essentially copyrighting a pony with gems on it. BUT, if I ignore the 'Closed Species' nonsense, I CAN still see an Earth Pony using a magic bracelet to give herself crystalline wings. The writer in me is simply saying "Fuck this, just WRITE THAT".
Well, here's the compromise between my cynicism and my genuine interest: 450 points. I'll pay if I know I win the auction (which you'll need to let me know if I do). I know it's a low ball offer, but let's be fair: I could write a crystal pony which can magic crystal wings onto herself to fly. I'm putting the points down because I like the artwork, but I don't care much for buying into such a legally flimsy, creatively restrictive fad as Closed Species': If I'd seen that part before I became interested in the character, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I thought Stardrop was just her name.
Still, perhaps I need to have more of an open mind: I'm TRYING not to JUST see an idea inspired by Crystal Ponies, but I'll have a look at the group anyway.

What makes the species arent just the crystals but the overall lore behind them.
I can see why some people have a hard time finding CS appealing, but for those that do its still a neat thing.
My mentality for this is to just go separate ways and not step on each others toes because of different opinions. (trust me I had conversations with plenty of less reasonable people and in the end no body wins and its all just a stressful experience D= )

I'm sorry we disagree on this stuff. To me, it just strikes me as exclusivity for exclusivity's sake, supported by paywalls at the cost of creativity. Besides, I know somebody's already outbid me, and I'd set a price limit for myself anyway.
I still think I managed to take something away from this though. I do still plan to make a crystal pony with some kind of magical affinity for crystals through use of a magic bracelet.
But yeah, I'm outta here. I can hate the idea of CS, but I can also not be a dick about it. As I said though, I'll always be sceptical of these things until one of you guys, or other CS peddlers show me a legal document telling me you have a copyright on this kind of IP. I mean, if Hasbro made this very thing tomorrow, what would you actually be able to do? Either way, it's not worth getting into a fight over: Best of luck to you.

and well, it may not be legally sound but honestly most rules and guidelines here on DA, especially created by the community are not actual laws, still people follow those rules because they enjoy being part of the community.
its like buying an adopt and selling it for more than what you have paid for it, despite the artist asking of you not to do that, its not technically illegal but it sure hurts other people.
A little personal story about a species Ive been part of for a long time now, it used to be an open species, every one could make their own, just not sell. people didnt bother and went against the makers wish to not sell them and drove the makers to close the species because they really felt hurt that other people would have so little respect for something that tried to be open for everyone and just a fun thing.
